Diff should be put in this coming weekend. Burn outs and massive baddassery to come. or put it into a curb. Probably the latter. But either way, it'll be a great time.
Also, idea's on rims? What size/ style?
I'm a big fan of five spokes. I love the look of my set of 15" and 16" rims, but I kinda wanna venture into 17" rims. Ideas??

Finally got to dropping the rear diff in the E28.
Good news is, the rear diff is out.
Bad news. It was an LSD diff. Yeah, FUCK ME RIGHT?
Anyways. That took 2 days to get out, (Don't wanna hear that I took forever, I'm doing it in the cold, on the ground, bymyself. #excusemeister
How she's been sitting the whole time. Haha
Rear diff out finally, wrenching bolts off, to pull the cover.
Hey look, an LSD! Looks fine, teeth look good right?
Then, this fell out, no snap ring holding it in, wtf?
Then, these were found in the last bits of the fluid. God knows what poured out of the majority of the fluid ( I poured it in an unmentionable spot)
Inner LSD teeth.
More random teeth chunks.
How it's currently sitting in my driveway.
Video of the internals!
LSD diff's are rebuildable. So, this one is for sale. The inards need to be replaced. Other then that, housing and drive teeth are fine. So if someone wants a project, this LSD is for sale, or I'll rebuild it and sell it. Or scrap it. PM me if interested.Last edited by Brian.; 03-08-2013, 09:51 PM.

So over the course of last weekend (sunday to be specific) I drove from Mad-town to Colgate (zachari's house) to snatch another 3.25 rear diff for the E28. I get yelled at by everyone for not taking enough pictures, so pictures and video are to be had.
Jake snapped this photo of me under the E28, cutting half shafts in the snow!
After that half shaft was cut, we packed up our cars, put everything back in the garage. And headed to the walmart in Germantown. To test drive a soon to hopefully be, mine. E46 328CI. Thing was awesome, needs some work. But is an awesome car. Hoping to snag that thing real soon.
Fastforward about an hour, we're heading to Jake's shop in Waukesha.
Here we pulled the diff cover off to inspect it.
All looks good! Mashed teeth or obscure objects in the diff.
Then we gave it a final bath of brake kleen, then soaked up as much as we could of brake kleen & the remaining diff fluid.
Then, we got to talking about Jake's E30 on the lift hovering over one of the Semi's. Got to play with his hydro samari sword E-brake. Thing is titties! I also want his front seats!
Enough boring shit, let's get to metal porn. I had joked around with Jake about welding my rear diff. He was down for welding it, so that was next on the agenda.
Rotate the output flanges 180 degree's and do it all over again. You wanna get both sides of the spider gears.
Fast forward to Monday, I had driven back to Madison. Then upstate to my shop in Green Lake. (Hi rowley, sorry I didn't say hi. )
I wanted to get all the rust scale, and other random nonsense off this thing, because honestly, it was fucking caked in who the hell knows what. And had been sitting in the dirt for a minute. So I started off with the tool shown below (Thing does a fucking NUMBER to rust chunks, but doesn't gouge the parts which is a plus! Then I wire wheeled it to get all the finer stuff off.
After whire wheeling it.
After that, I broke all the Allen bolts lose, but left them threaded in for the time being, because the half shafts make awesome carrying handles of this heavy chunk of metal.
After that, I'm gunna prime/paint it, to prevent further damage, and painted diff's look cool as fuck. Then drop my old one, and install this one!
Then I snapped this really shitty panoramic photo looking out on my farm. this is the view from inside my shop. This shot would have looked cooler with the race sled, and the quad sitting out in the field, but fuck that. I'd rather ride them then let them sit in the field!

Rear diff is still hanging in my E28, BUT. I did acquire my 2nd 3.25G/r rear diff, it's been drained, brake kleened, inside and out. Welded, for mad jdm euro slut drifting, or just to cause a ruckus. Wire wheeled the diff housing, time to paint it. Then drop the old broken diff, and install this one. Too bad wisconsin just got slammered with a snow storm. looking at a foot of snow
I also sold my Hartge front air dam. And found a use for an old street sign, gunna use it as a skid plate. Don't worry, reinforcements will be made

status update on this damn car. New rear diff is in order. With this awesome Wisconsin weather, and the diff being destroyed in my driveway, 70 miles away from my shop.
So I get to drop the diff in my driveway. Yesterday, I got the passengers side off, next time it's warm, I'll go out and do the drivers side and drop it. putting in the same gear ratio diff, but welded. Because I'm too broke to drop cash on a LSD diff.
Sorry no pictures... =\ Though I copped a new camera. And it does some gorgeous shots. so stay tuned!

Slowly making headway on this wheel bearing/driveline issue. It might be a simple fix, or a wheel bearing replacement. We (guten parts service / Levent) are still sort of unsure as to what it is. An with the current weather weirdness It makes it hard to work on it. Hopefully I'll get this girl back on the road soon.

You need to find a local garage with a hub puller. A special peace of kit in witch most garages won't invest on. But with it that tool it will only cost you like 2 hours in labour.
The dealership says they haven't worked on cars this old, yet they've had numerous 2002's in their shop.... So who knows.
