i kinda stumbled in to owning a diesel and will never look back now. my girlfriend last summer needed a car to commute to work (lifeguard and got a job at a beach a good distance from home) and i wanted her to learn to drive stick. so i picked up with 02 tdi golf with 297,000 km for 800 car needed a turbo and new everything basically but hell for 800 it was still a deal. ill let the pictures do some talking.
well here is the winter beater started out life a unmolested 2 door golf...not so much now.
it got some minor mods newer "sports" shocks and struts and race land springs, front gti seats and a set of rx2's and a set of 15mm rear spacers
then drove the car back and forth to toronto
then i sold my jetta and all bets were off this was going to be my "winter beater" so it of course needed a set of long beaches, matching rear gti seats, larger front brakes, beetle stainless cat back exhaust, smoked fender markers, euro front bumper+4 motion lip, city radio after some one broke the window and removed the aftermarket one, city pedals with beetle S dead pedal. all new front end (control arms, tir rod assemblies, ball joints and alinement) "shark fin" antenna and 3 spoke wheel. chrome euro switch with rear fog light mod.
parts that are left are .216's, gti rear valence and repaint most of the car
ops: and put my 25mm spacers on back and put the 15s up front, g60/vr clutch and then software.
then i did some paint work,
the in the spring of 2012.
car now has abd rear sway bar, joey moded the head lights. found out today while putting the lb on the car that one of the front springs is broken, SHAME guess ill have to buy coil overs, next mods are more paint work, coils, euro rear bumper and eibach front sway bar perhaps vnt 17 and 11mm pump.

gave it back to the girlfriend to drive for the summer but couldn't leave the car alone.
lets see well put the neuspeed front sway bar on and found that my steering rack was leaking. fml so put a steering rack in the car last weekend. and figured since vw washed it, it was a good time to take some pictures of the car. also got my coil overs on, car has 10mm front spacers and 15mm rear ones now. ahh put 312mm brakes on the car (337/gli ones) the 288 just wernt enough with the 17/22, just waiting for softwear now but hopefully ill get that done by the end of the week, now just have to do some paint work and throw on the new r32 hatch spoiler. on with some pictures.
did some wheel horing in the last few weeks. started with a set of merc mono blocks.
but wasnt really feeling them so i jumped on a set of fat fives.
cars at paint so once i get it back ill post some pictures of them on the car prehaps with a bit more low.
on a side note the software saga still continues.
well got it back from paint, just cleaned up the quarters after the clear coat didnt set properly and replaced the drivers side door. probably paint the rest of the car in the spring.
well super long post, but ive owned the car for over a year now. its been super fun taken it to the track a few times and its been a blast annoying all the "sports cars" with my diesel. just waiting now to sort out the tune and then build a motor this winter (260/260 cam over sized valved and hd springs)
