Made some progress today! Fixed the holes in the convertible top with windshield urethane (just for winter) until I put a new top on in the spring. Fixed the heater controls for now until I can find a good unit, so no more ghetto wires coming outta the hood, and put a nice new negative clamp on the battery so it won't have trouble starting. She's coming along, slowly but surely. For now I'm focusing on fixing what's broke, before I really get into modding the car.

Luckily just found out that my lowering springs I have are FRPP "C" springs, with linear 650 lb/in rate front and rears are progressive 200/300 springs. I'll be able to safely cut the fronts a decent amount, and cut the soft coils off the progressive rear and have some nice stiff springs for safe low. Gonna cut till I'm just barely tucking tire. I might snag these wheels from my friend and run the dreaded 4 lug to 5 lug adapters, or re-drill the hubs. I honestly can't afford a 5-lug swap right now, but 4x108 wheel selection is a little tough. Old pic of them, but it's the black wheels on the right.

This is my first light rwd car. I've just never had the opportunity to do a donut on dry pavement. My only other rwd car I've driven was my 4300 lb open diff gran torino, so there's no donuts to be had in that.

The understeer on the torino is horrendous, and being 17 something feet long i'm always worried about smacking it into something.

Dude, you live in America. How the hell can you smash into something if every parking lot is the size of a small European city?? LOL

Got some awesome goodies for the mustang for chrismas! Got a line lock from my friend seth, got a nice battery cutoff switch from my brother, and intake manifold gaskets from my dad, plus 110$ in various autozone gift cards for when shit inevitably breaks.

Started cleaning up the complete clusterfuck of 28 years of quick cheap repairs on the wiring. Areas where broken connectors have been cut out and somebody has cobbled together something to fix it. There's a single flat spade terminal that has 7 wires all soldered to it, and 3 of them are 10g power wires. Such a headache, but I'm making some progress. Need to buy bigger black wire looms, some heat shrink tubing, electrical tape, about 50ft of 14g black wire and a few nice junctioning blocks.

To clarify, under the grey tape on the left is the 7 wires all now on loop terminals, attached with a good sized bolt through the middle. Just a temporary until I get a junctioning block, but a lot better than a single super corroded terminal.

This car is a falling apart bucket of bolts. In technical terms, it's a pile of crap. The list of broken shit on this car is longer than the list of what's right. But I love it already, and the more I drive it the more I wanna drive it. Once some of this snow clears up I'm gonna do intake manifold gaskets, a right front strut, fix the hole in the exhaust, and put in The 8 missing header flange bolts. Seriously, whoever did the work to this car must have been several fries short of a happy meal.

So, here's some better pictures as it sits now. Needs door pins to fix the crooked door, desperately needs paint work, but surprisingly not much rot really. Windows don't line up at all on either side, which is pretty sweet.

Here's the fixed door latch. I didn't have time to grind the welds down, but that plate is 1/8" steel so it's not going anywhere. Door latches perfectly now. Just gotta make it pretty before spring.

I love the steering wheel, it's got an awful tilt wheel though. The tron grid dash is about as 80's as it gets. Amp gauge.. doesn't work. Temp gauge... doesn't work. Gas gauge... does work, but only half the time. Missing the entire lower dash panel, as well as the dash being cracked to hell. Seats are in remarkably good condition, as are the door panels and carpet.

Filthy engine, haven't had time to sit down and clean it yet. In the middle of running a new vacuum line to the distributor, so don't mind that. Rat's nest of wires currently, and leaks oil like a sieve but that's okay. You can see my wiring on the left, vs awful wiring on the right.

Intake manifold gaskets aren't very happy. I have them, just a tad bit cold out to be working on the car
