  • Brevard's Bagged Miata

Just joined this group, figured I would start a build thread for my miata project.

    The story...
I bought the car 3 weeks ago 100% stock. With in the first 2 days, the tranny got locked into reverse while in traffic (common problem for miatas), so I had her towed back home to get her back on the road.
Luckily it turned out to be a free repair!

A week after fixing the tranny problem, The car started throwing a CEL code and the car wouldn't stay running. It turned out to be a faulty cam positioning sensor and It just so happens that for the 96' and 97' miatas the sensor runs $380, for 98s and up, >$100. Thanks Mazda!

About 2 weeks later I received my Ksport air struts and got started on the install. Here is the set up, its pretty basic.

Next steps are to pull out the fender wells, lower the rear more, and go wheel shopping. Ill update as I go with pics.

Does it happen to be a 90'?
The factory service done to fix this problem doesn't work all the time
      Nice car though, looks clean.

Its a 96, it has the 1.8 in it. This problem was supposed to be fixed by the time my car came out but it's not 100%. Just happens less frequent than the 1.6s.

Bagging a Miata? Dear god why? It's the easiest car in the world to slam on it's nuts. Cheap coilovers + remove the collars + some low offset 13"-16" wheels (depending on the bodystyle) = profit.

That was my original plan until I got a good price on a bag set up. Plus It's nice being able to bag up and drive around comfortably, not giving a sh*t about the road or speed bumps, then just bagging down when I park

My last car was an EG hatch with function and form type 2s and I swapped the springs for eibach 700lb front and 550lb rear springs. Lets just say I'm over having a stiff ride that breaks your back when you hit a bump. Reasoning for stiffer springs was because my upper control arms were putting dents in my shock tower

shouldve cut holes in the shock towers. Bagged miata is going to be sick though

I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

thinking between 3 different options... One is 15x12 and 15x10 Jlines, another is a set of 15x10 6UL wheels, and **** to say this but they look damn sexy... 15x9 Rota Grids lol.

Agreed. Regardless though, should be an interesting turnout. Good luck!

Were you the one selling those Jlines on CL earlier in the year?

Brevardian as well, going to school at FSU at the moment but I'm back time to time.
