Yeah its actually not getting spark out of the distributor for cylinder 3 and 4 I believe.Originally posted by M.Doban View PostSounds like it's running down a couple cylinders. Might want to fix that.
And also the coil is from some other vehicle and is was smaller.
Lol it sure is, my dad even tells me stop taking things off of it, hes like instead of removing crap you should be adding whats missing to it. I just laugh. Also thanks for the support it really helps motivate me.Originally posted by d.parker View Postdamn! now thats a project! keep up the work
That is one of my choices, but also im very indecisive. Which really sucks when it comes to choosing what to go with. I could probably fix the injector fan, and face it towards the fuel lines to prevent that. Hmm got me thinking now.Originally posted by Jlyons617 View PostWhy not start out with a set of carbs form a 240 or 260, the porting on the heads is the same and they are a bolt on. Just wrap the fuel lines in heat tape as they like to vaporlock.

Update 6/14/13
So finally did some work on the 280zx, I was kinda forced upon it. My dad gave me three weeks to work on it and if not it was going bye bye.
So this was the last week that I had, and decided to do some work.
I hit up Auto Zone and bought some Paint, Paint strippers, plastic scrapers, a fresh set of spark plug wires, and some new battery post because the old ones were crap.

Better pic of the engine bay.

Supplies

Fresh new wires. Not NGK tho

Old wires.

New ones installed.

Then I started to remove paint from the car, I used the Rustoleum Base and clear coat remover.
Works like a charm, I highly recommend it to people who are trying to remove paint quickly and on a budget, was only about 7 dollars the can.

I love this stuff, but it burns especially in the sun when it gets on your skin.

Really wanted to get this paint stripped and painted, so I can put the window back on.

Im going to strip all the paint and primer it, and rattle can it white, just so It can all be the same color.
This is what's happening so far.
Also All the wires are getting spark, but I think its too weak, Spark on the car should be a bluish color if i'm correct right? Because spark on this on a yellowish. Correct me if im wrong.

UPDATE 7/9/13
UPDATE 7/9/13
Nothing much. Just got the rear panel painted with primer and painted it rattle can white, no clear coat.

I had to reprimer it like three times, since I would let it sit, and the surface rust would go trough. Finally got tired of it and redid it all and painted it to finally be done with that side.

Then I started to work on the front fender. Was a little harder to remove the paint from that one.

Here you can see how it peels off.

Finally got tired of also seeing it without the window, so I had some butyl sealer left from resealing my z31 leaky quarter windows.
So I gave it a good clean and reinstalled it.

You can see how clean it is.

Put a small bead of it throughout.

Here it is on.

And the panel painted with window, nicest part of the car so far lol.

UPDATE 7/30/13
So I been back from Florida, for about 4 days now.
Those wondering I stayed in Ft. Pierce.
Was a nice experience, pretty crazy because I was born in Florida, but never knew it because I was brought over to Texas as a baby, and raised here.
Here is what I found out about the 280zx.
Injectors are all corroded. I was checking resistance in all of them and I was getting OL.
Which is incorrect because well, the car starts and all, but im guessing since there is so much corrosion on the tabs its not reading.
All the connectors look like this.

All the injectors look like this, very corroded and the connector tabs are broken off and missing the metal clip that holds them on.

So this is most likely the reason the car has trouble in the higher rpm's. And sounds like it is misfiring.
So will be sourcing some of these next for the car.
