  • Sasha, my 4th Generation Eclipse

So I have had my Eclipse for about a good 4 to 5 years now, I was rocking HIDs for about a year and finally decided/had enough money to buy some coilovers after graduating college and saving forever for months to afford coilovers. Anyway this is how she sits currently, she still has caster issues and is shaking when driving from 15-30MPH (so I still need to figure out how to fix this, but I still love her to death; more than my girlfriend.

The coilovers are not maxed out, the front can go much lower, the back can maybe drop another inch but thats about it till they are maxed.

After I fix the alignment issues (caster, camber, and my shaking) I will invest in some tires/rims along with a new pair of headlights, OEM foglights, short throw, weighted shift knob, intake, headers, exhaust.

Looks great. I used to have a 3g on some coils and was pretty low. Although the 4g can get much lower than the 3g. Have you seen K-man's 4g?

Here is a picture of it

Yes, I think you are right. What did you do to fix the issue? I mean it seems to be a FWD issue so how about every Civic or Golf/GTI shouldn't they have that wobble? what did you do to your Cav. to fix the issue? Sell it?

Since my last visit I have removed my DDM HID Kit 55W Hi/Low 8000K, and replaced it with a pair of Halo Projector Headlights due to the OEM Headlights become destroyed by the Texas summer heat along with an HID bulb burning out. So far I love these new headlights 200 times more, my only complaint is these lights are not nearly as bright as my HIDs and the hue went from a crystal white with a hint of blue to a yellow hue. I need to find out if I can replace the bulbs with anything brighter and white instead of yellow light. The headlight housing said HIDs are not allowed or accepted, either they wont fit, or they just aren't made for HIDs, temperate? Anyway, I'm sure they sell lights better than the current high and low beams. I will post pictures of the lights installed sometime this weekend.

In the meantime I took my car out for a mini photo-shoot before raising my car an inch in the front (these photos are pre-Halo Projector Headlights).

So raised the front of the car an inch and adjusted the coil-overs so it is much less stiff and now I can drive down pretty much any road here in Texas without having to slam on my breaks so I don't scrape. Not only did raising the car reduce the wobble while driving by 70% but it also lets me drive down the street of my apartment complex without having people pass me at double the speed I am going or honking at me every time I'm about to drive over a rail-road track or turning down ruff streets in downtown Austin which can be pretty bumpy. All the bumps in the road made my tires rub through the wheel-well. So now everything is fixed except for the bit of wobble still, but I can give gas without getting scared unlike when I was an inch lower.

I really want to go as low as I was and then some. I need to do a bit more research on this wobble on my 4G Eclipse. Once the wobble is gone I can go as low as my car lets me and figure out how to have the tires not rub on every little bump (could be cause I'm still stock set-up).

Nice, personally I'm a huge 1998 Eclipse GS-T fan. Yeah we are both a part of Club4G, haven't directly spoken to him though, his car is beautiful. I'd love to pick his brain on my wobble issues.

Thanks, yes please do. We need more modified 4Gs, 98% of them in Austin are stock if not a full 99%.

Thanks man, trust me when I was used car shopping I was like "this is a chick car, but after that test drive I chose it over a 2002 Audi A4 in a heartbeat. She is just really sporty and now especially since she's lowered. She handles as if she is in rails. I can out maneuver my friends new MK6 GTI, although she kills me in a straight-line.

Not a fan of really any other color on the 4G. Only other color I'd get is/are some sort of Lime Green vinyl wrap, or some sort of traffic cone Orange.

I've got that issue also, it definitely is a fwd issue and I mostly get vibration when I accelerate. I just ordered some engine spacers, the idea is to lift the engine to try and correct the geometry of the axles that changed from being lowered. Idk if its the same for your car, two totally different manufacturers haha, but hopefully this helps.

Let me know if it fixes things.

Installed some Halo Projectors on Tuesday, I was overdue on some headlights.Today, Sasha got a bath then took her downtown with the girlfriend.

I'm still editing a bunch of photos from this shoot along with some pictures of the headlight install (I had to take off the bumper and everything). Once I have some time I'll upload some more photos.

I got the engine spacers installed, made a world of difference with the vibration. Theres almost none now.
