          • So this happened today as soon as I got to campus.

Steering went out on the bug.

2 hours later after class, I had a tow truck waiting on me in the parking lot. Good to have a parent with a tow truck. I like to think of it as my own personal hauler like RWB.

Got It home thinking I be taking the gas tank out, wheels off just to get to the steering shaft and coupler, box.

Took the passenger side wheel off, then the drivers side.

Turning the steering shaft by hand, we noticed that the clamp to the left of the coupler had no bolt in it. Either It was left out when we replaced all the front end suspension with Airkewld products or it wiggled its way out from being non tightened. You can the boltless clamp here, left of the coupler, right of the steering box.

Got a new bolt and nut on and tightened it up, fixed within 30 minutes, took it out for a test drive and realigned the steering wheel. Good to roll.

And before you say anything about me have two jacks to lift the car, get over it. I'm getting jack stands this weekend.

                  • Decided to put my bumpers back on.

So today me and a friend sandblasted all the mounting brackets and wire wheeled all the hardware.

                    Then primed and painted.
Still have two brackets left and some of the hardware left to finish.

Still need to polish and clean these up.

                    • So I got all the bumper brackets done. Now I just need some new bolts to fit them to the car.

They'll go on this week along with lowering the back end another click making it go another 2 something inches. Then the front even out with it.

                      Pics tomorrow.

Only Photos I have at the moment. Need to square away a few more details and I'll have quality photos then.

                        Now with bumpers.

I have photos of the work but they're on a camera and Im to lazy to load them right now.

                        • Alright so heres the progress shots.

So heres where I ran into a problem. The notched springplates had already been notched from before, but It wasn't enough for it to clear.

So we took a bottle jack to push the assembly down and went under the spring plate. Worked flawlessly.

                          All buttoned up.
