Well I got started on my long term engine build today. The 20r/22r hybrid swap with a massive cam!
I have never tackled this kind of project before so I will be learning every step of the way. But I got the 20r head off, went surprisingly well actually. Other than the back spark plug the the PO didn't use anti-seize on, so I had to break out the impact wrench.
I'm also redoing the valve cover. I want the whole bay too be clean and simple. So a wire tuck and clean shave will be in order. Everything is ready to be cleaned and taken to the machine shop.

I think Jody, along with Ashton, like to push the line between "street legal" and "realistically driveable".

I think the 20/22r hybrid u use the 22r rocker arms system because they are lighter (i believe)
looks like an awesome project. 22r's are in my opinion the most reliable things on the planet, next to my bicycle. if you go with a weber carb, remove all the EGR stuff, and get an internally regulated alternator, and no power steering, your bay will be extremely clean and minimal. looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I looked up the internally regulated alternator, and I don't know about that just yet. The one I have is only a few months old or so. If nothing else I will be upgrading to the 84-88 model, which is stronger? I think I read that somewhere haha
Until I decide if I want to slide this thing I will just keep the power steering. My last truck didn't have it and, I wasn't a fan.
Thanks for the advice though!
