  • Der G60 Renner

I'm a sucker for old cars
So besides my Porker 964 i also have a little Mk1

I'm building now for 3.5y and as we speak she's almost finished

So let me take you on a little trip

    April 2009
    Browsing the netz i stumbled onto a MK1 1500cc 4 manual gearbox
It was an old picture at a barn...still don't know why...but it fascinated me
It all looked like the time was right to buy my first MK1 after 3 years badly want one

I called the owner and it was a guy that lived in holland...near belgium abiut 3 hours driving from my place
    To make the story short
Went looking, was ok,paid him, week later we went to pick him up

This is how i found the little one

I got some stuff+gave him a good cleaning+some new filters+fuellines so i could do some meetings in the summer
    result...small bumpered,lowered on BBS RS E30 rennsport with a healty 1500cc engine

Well keep i mind this whole ''project'' took me 3 years
doing lotz of work myself, got help from friends, father in law
I didn't had the intention to make a real showcar off it,just wanted a cool Mk1 with some power. Loving the noise a G60 made...a 1.8T is a newer and more powerfull engine...but i'm sold to the whaling g60 noise

during the body & engineworkz i could save some money to buy new parts also

Full welded off Mercedes Sprinter intercooler

          Raintray gotta go

Stripping one of the 2 engines i bought

found some nice OEM quarter windows

            New oilcooler

            And ready for bodyshop!

In the meanwhile we continued with the engine, and it was clear to see he needed a complete rebuild

                            all fresh & new

The bodywork would be sage green VS black accents
didn't want to do the all chrome theme that you often see on mk1
so did a little thing in the engine compartment with the second layer of paint

them city light's just work well with the color

                            It's all in the details

                            couldn't resist

                            On goes the GTI Trim
