• Gilbert the Yota! More like the turtle...

Hey all Stanceworkers, some of you may know about my grandfathers proposition to sell my car and he would buy me a new one, well.. I didn't sell my car, and he gave me the money out of my college fund, so I don't have to!

Ever since I bought my E30 shell it's been my dream to buy a running vehicle, and
    here it is!

    A 1976 Toyota Hilux, with a 1980 20r and 80'000 miles

It's almost as big a piece of work as the E30, but it has a motor and it drives, on the drive home my dad put it in third and floored and we reached A WALLOPING 50 MILES AN HOUR!

It also needs to be seafoamed and it may need a new carburetor, but it made the drive home without stalling out!

    More than 3 times.......

    Thanks for looking! Updates soon!

Get a Weber 32/36 DGEV carb, it'll probably run you 275 but I highly recommend it. More power, reliability, and fuel efficiency. I had carb problems on my truck, and after I threw mine on I haven't touched it since. And they just look good. I'm also looking forward to seeing what direction this truck takes. I'm gay for trucks.
The only thing lower than my standards is my truck.

You and I are now friends weather you like it or not. If you need any help with this thing, i'm in. And in the event that you decide to sell this truck, I have first dibs. I miss my 78 so bad. That is all. Carry on.

I plan on it as soon as I can afford it, and I think I might be gay for trucks too,

Do you guys have any information on these trucks? Like any tips you have, or why there is a flashing light on the dash that says "CHG"??? Is it charge? Charge what? The battery is fine..
Is it change? Cause I could for sure use an oil change..
And do you know of any power steering/power assist kits for these? Google could help with that one but the guy I bought it from said there were kits available, I don't even see how it could work.......

Oh well, thanks for looking as usual!

I wouldn't suggest a power steering kit. Your truck is already under powered as it is and all that will do is add more strain to the engine and rob power. It's not like they are difficult to drive with manual steering anyways.

Very good point, and it's not bad once you're moving, but having to make a 12 point turn
                          in your driveway isn't fun..

Also any ideas on how to get low with this? No torsion bars to be fiddled with, I've heard I can just remove the middle leaf, it already has 4 inch blocks.
And I guess cut the front springs? Or find some sort of coilover type thingy that will work?
There are bump stops on the front A arms... And I'm sitting on them.. Remove?

I gave up with my last one and just left it in the street after my last batch of lowering haha

As far as lowering it more, remove the middle leaf and cut your rear hangers in half. You'll need to do a notch at that point unless you don't mind the ride. I always just leave a sliver of bump stop in there to keep the axle from smacking the frame all day. Trim the front bump stops down until you aren't resting on the anymore so you can see how many coils to trim out. There isn't much aftermarket support for these trucks so you'll have to get creative if you try to upgrade anything. That being said you can retrofit 85+ drop spindles on for some extra low. You'll need brakes off a new truck as well though if you go that route. I've heard supra mk2 spindles will work to and add a little width to the front end.
