  • Slow build, 1986 Toyota MR2

Well I figured it was finally time too start a build thread for my baby, but first I'll tell the story of how i came about too getting the car.
Started out with my first car, a 1986 dodge ram with an oil leak, bought it off of my sister for 650 and for some odd reason loved the thing

Drove that for I think about three months, then found out I was moving too Texas and they had smog checks there and i didn't have the means too fix the oil leak, so I sold the truck but heres the funny thing, I ended up selling it too Rally Racer A.C.P! he called me up from cali and said he had a guy in washington about an hour away from me that would come get it for him, turned a 400 dollar profit on the thing as well

So with the money i had from selling my truck + some more that i had saved up i was able too buy what i thought at the time was a great deal, a 1996 2.2L Auto Subaru Legacy sedan for 1750

Granted it did have 220k on it, when i had it at least it ran great, but the auto was killing me and i decided i needed too start mowing some lawns too put some more cash in my pocket, so i traded that for my next truck, a 1999 V6 Auto dodge ram 1500

Oh and the thing was loud too say the least.... muffler was broken off completely!

I did end up putting on a cheap thrush muffler for legal reasons lol, but after another month i was once again going out of my mind because automatic, which brings us too my current car.

    My pride and joy

Has 264k on the original 4a-ge but the guy who had it before me baby'd it all of those miles and last year took it in too toyota and had the Head completely redone (Head gasket, water pump, thermostat, Etc Etc...)
Now this thing will definitely not be getting traded any time soon! For me, nothing compares too driving a mid engine car.

As of now I'm unemployed, but only this past week or so have i been looking for a job here, so if all goes right i should be employed by the end of next week and that's when the real fun begins

    Current plans are this

Dropped about an inch or so on 15 or 16 inch gold Enkei 92's, gonna clean up the interior a bit with new steering wheel, shift knob, and other goodies. Maybe a new front lip but that's on the backside of the plans list so far.

Thanks for checking her out, due too me being a broke 16 year old, this build will definitely not be fast in anyway shape or form, but I hope too have her come out of it looking great.

mki mr2s are fun little cars, and surprisingly great in the snow (mine was my winter beater when i had a 91 as the good car)

Can't wait too see more out of your build, honestly most i'll be doing performance wise is new exhaust entirely with hi flow cat's, Intake and headers, and possibly cams.

                nice car!
2 reasons I don't want to go bbs rs
                1. too expensive
                2. beyond over played, just look at the vw scene lol

also we tried shopping in bigger 92's and it just didn't look right, this us definitely a car not made to be on rubber band tires.

Felt like this needed an update, nothing on the car directly but i have good news and bad news

Good news: Got the job! gonna be working 15-20 hours a week at a local golf course just driving golf carts.

Bad news: All of the pre-employment checks and tests are taking ages, i officially got the job last friday, went in for a Drug test on monday and they are still awaiting the results of the background check which according to them should be here in the next 4-5 days, driving me nuts with anticipation as i really want to get to working on my baby.

Anyway enough of my bitch and moan, first things that will be done with the car are a solid tune up and a new muffler since my stock one sounds like a coffee grinder with all of that broken metal inside of it haha, after that will be springs or sleeves (still havent decided yet) and then saving for wheels.
