So here's a quick prologue to the 330Ci that I mentioned on the last page. I know it's not my M3, but it's parked along side with it so deal with it okay.

I bought this car knowing it was going to be a giant project, but being the idiot I am, I just can't say no to a deal.

Two days after buying it, I pulled it into my messy garage to take a surgery list for the car. This is where the pain starts. Unwashed after sitting outside for four months, and it was showing it's neglect.

Caved in passenger's side fender. PO said "a van backed into it" one night while it was parked on the street. This is gonna have to be replaced.

    Crusty old roundel.

    Paint chips and broken kidneys.

Then I started looking at the inside of the car. Yeesh.

    The M54B30 in it's neglected, oil-leaking glory.

It was colder than my ex-girlfriend outside, and it was starting to snow. So I did the sensible thing and backed it out of the garage and started to hand wash it.

While my hands froze into ice blocks, I cranked the heater in the shop and let it get to a balmy 60*.

    Suddenly: CLEAN SURFACES

    Stop.

Show of hands, who's ever bought a used car before?

Put your hand down, I know you just raised it. Or at least thought about it.

Now you're just sitting there like

But seriously, if you've ever bought a used car before, the very first thing you should do is clean all the surfaces your hand stays in contact with. The steering wheel, the gear knob, things of this nature.

    Why, you ask?

Because after one wipe, this is what a cleaning rag looks like.

    YUP.

That's other people funk. As in dead skin. And maybe some gentleman's relish.

I cleaned the steering wheel with warm, soapy water, a toothbrush (to get all the little diamonds out from between the stitching. Because BMW ballerzzz), and some leather conditioner to get the funk out.

    Very more gooder.

I still have to scrub and clean the carpets, but at least the leather surfaces have been properly treated with conditioner. The steering wheel, shift knob, and the seats soaked up the luscious life milk almost immediately, so I have everything three coats of the good stuff.

I fail at photography so bear with me.

I'll stop the story here for now. Starting to think I should re-name this "MLM's never-ending projects thread".

It's a ton of fun to drive in the snow, otherwise it's just okay. I miss having three pedals.

The worst part is putting fuel in it every week.

My insurance company and my neighbors must think that I deal drugs.
"Who the fuck needs 6 cars? There's only 2 people living in that house, is that really necessary?"

And yeah, that day was absurdly hot. Beers were a good choice.
What I wouldn't give to have that weather right now.

Get yer ass out here boy, we got sommadem trails we can go wheelin' on.

But seriously, there's a local guy that has people over to 'wheel quite often. I'm taking my truck there this week.

I had no idea you had to smash out one of your windows. I would have cried.
