Toying with the 350Z Literally!

After doing some pre-winter cleaning I found my old Nissan 350z remote control car I had at the bottom of a dusty box. After taking a quick look at the construction I said to myself "Low?" Rather than tossing it in the trash, I chopped it up, take a look.

Well, lets start of with what it looks like now to keep you Low heads seated.


First I took of the body and went straight for the suspension. Removing all the struts


Then the cutting began, removing just enough so it could still be "drivable"


The top strut being the original height and the bottom is the result of about 2-3 coils


Then I installed the suspension, Laying PLASTIC frame?


Finally I put the body back on


But there was a slight problem, to much tuck and no poke. So I took some plain old washers and set them as wheel spacers, and there you have it.

Wow this brings back memories, you should solid strut the rear, that's what I always did, lol.

I tried that but couldn't pull it off, I would have a hard time actually getting it to move on any surface. Before the solid strut I even tried no strut at all.

Xmod? I have a few of them still. My dad lost my supra and my NSX though

Still got my R34 with the full stage 2 or 3 engine in it hahahah. Maybe I should do this.

Yup Xmods, you definitly should if its just laying around collecting dust. That was the case with me, had it since I was about 13-14 and now 7 years later I dug it up. Thanks its pretty easy to do.

Im going to have to try that out. What I did try a while back was to push the wheel through the tire to give the effect but it doesnt look streched.

How did you make spacers that wide without running out of axle for the rear wheels?

I know exactly what you mean lol. Anytime, I added a spacer to the hub I had no room to attach the lug nut. I literally have a turn and a half holding them on. Basically, I used Cup Washers the shape of the washer allows enough room to start the threads due to the dimple in the middle of it. I placed the dimple inward (facing away from the wheel). Then progressively made the dimple larger with a BB from a gun ball and flat head hammer to allow it enough room. In a larger scale its like covering your rear brake set up with a dush sheild, but instead of behind the assembly it is infront of it.
