  • Always ready to run, DD e36

Hey guys, i wanted to write this thread for a long time, but i just was too lazy. Inspiration stroke me today, so here it goes.I am from Latvia, it`s in Eastern Europe. I bought the car when i was 17 (now im 21) before i had driver`s licence. At that time it was a 318is and it looked like this.

First thing i did i got some new , but old wheels from e34 with ET closer to my taste

It already had stiff lowered springs and a LSD, other than that it was complete shit - interior was thorn apart, engine was not running properly. Got all the little things fixed , and drove with it looking like this for about 2 year. After earning some proper paper in the US during summer some work on the car started, i am a huge fan of low cars and drifting, so i wanted to put both worlds into one car, which would be daily driven as well, so i bought coils - TA Technix fitted to lowest possible , fitted Powerflex bushing into rear frames control arms, upgraded brakes with brembo brake pads and fitted self made polyurethane rear shock absorber mounts.

After this i installed angel eyes, fog lights, new seriously loud exhaust tip, Golf mk3 lip and sound system from Alpine - Alpine iDA-X313 head and G series speakers front and back. For some time the car looked like this

After these pictures where taken came the winter, with all the snow skidding etc.. On december 24th - yes it was on X-mas i crashed into a steel fence while doing 70km/h being sideways, so that was a setback for all my plans. Spend some money to buy new parts to replace the damaged ones, spend some time to get the body straight. car looked like shit again..
As my hood was damaged i figured - i don`t have anything to loose so i did something that i was dreaming about for a long time - cover something with RUST .

After this i figured that i need something more serious in the engine bay to be able to skid in the summer too, so i bought and installed m50b25. Why this engine? because i have a plan to put a turbo kit on it and this engine would be more suitable than b52 engine with aluminium engine block.

i have installed welded diff, done a little tune-up on the coils to make them sit lower , bought pretty rare wheels - bbs style9 16`s et15 all-around and 205/45 tyres, put 2cm spacers in the front,re-painted the front part of the car and side-skirts, widened arches, installed sports air filter, made steering angle 5 degrees wider and made headlights a lot meaner - painted the round inner glass matte black, since i don`t drive to country side - no need for those lights.

This is how she looks now, but she`s getting some serious changes during the winter.

    and of course some skidding

Nope, i think i will drive with it rusted for one more year, until the car is getting fully repainted in different colour, which will demand classy and clean look

A small update - wanted a wooden NARDI steering wheel for a long time, but a 400$ steering wheel would be a huge setback moneywise for the project, so i got something like this.

great looking car! my favorite thing about it are the dark housing lights that have light halo's that stand out. its a small difference, but it sets it apart. keep doing your thing!
