  • My 2003 HYUN-DAMN. One of a kind!

Hey guys been lurking on stanceworks for quite some time now. I purchased my 2003 hyundai elantra about 3 years ago. Got it my junior year of highschool and thought that car was the shitt! haha At first all I was about was the car audio scene, and about who has the most bass.Work all summer to get a re audio mx d2 15 woofer with a kicker zx 1500.1 amp and a bunch of misc stuff. Got into the stance scene about a year ago and have wanting to see what i could do with my car ever since. Here's how it was just stock.

So that was that. Just a stock elantra, with a stereo system.

Started reading up about the whole stance scene more and more. What coils were the best, what wheels were the best, tire stretching, offset, all that good stuff!

So this summer i said im working my ass off and seeing what i can do with this car. So i purchased a pair of k-sport coilovers and got some work cr-kai 16x7 wheels.

(Dont have many pics with those wheels)

Coils were a B I T C H to put on. Was a nightmare but after about a full day we had them installed. The 16x7 i was not liking due to the rubbing in the rear and the front. Had to do many adjustments to the car to reduce the rubbing as much as possible but still be some what low. Added negative 3 camber in the front and rears which help a lot. But i still didnt like those wheels at all. Sold them and now have a pair of xxr 531 15x8 with a 16mm spacer on all four. Stretch on hankook ventus v4 175/55 r15.

(MY GF SO BE NICE lol)

And how it sits now! I love how it turned out, better than i ever thought it would look. Front is about half inch to an inch off the ground. Tow hooks are getting DESTROYED. Well not to much else i am doing with the car now, maybe a roof rack we will see though. Leave any input you guys have and comments like to hear what you guys think! Thanks!

I actually really like this. My only complaint is that, while you're low enough, those wheels are just too small. Step up a size or two and it should be spot on though!

This is more like it! Nice XD gls!

Front will always rub without the fenders rolled. May I ask what offset the CR kai's were? My 17x7 5zigens are in the high 30 offset 38 ish? I have coils in the rear cranked kind of down(half way ish), tire at the top of the wheel well, one pinky wheel gap with -2 degrees of camber and no rubbing(getting 35mm in back and 15mm in front spacers before she goes in for the respray). The fronts on the other hand shave the shit out of my tires and are actually making slits in the tire T-T

Did you have to roll the fenders all the way around to fit your current setup or are your coils stiff enough to prevent much suspension travel?

Finally glad someone outside of Korea has this done right, just want some advice for someone in a low hyundai.

I do agree, those wheels look too tiny.

The Cr kai's had a 25 offset. I rolled and pulled the shit out of the fronts. Idk if you have ever heard of the phone book method for pulling fenders. Google it and you will find more information about it. I pulled my front fenders that way and it help a lot! And yes i rolled all my fenders all the way around.

Question for you though did you have trouble with the rear rubbing on the piece where the fender and the rear bumper meet? Because i know with mine there's a bolt that holds it together and that whole bolt and metal piece was destroying my 16s when i had them.

          Thank you!

yeah i know maybe next summer ill look into getting bigger wheels. But for the mean time i really like them.

Mine did rub on that little bolt a few times while going over speed bumps, but since I adjusted the camber I have no more problems out back.

The bolt that holds the front bumper to the fender and the inner lip of the fender are eating my fronts. How did you get around that bolt, it sticks out pretty far. I can just roll and pull the front fenders, but that bolt will always be there to eat some rubber.

Ya i have no problems with it anymore either. But if there was a way to shave the whole bolt part, and the metal piece that is around all that we could definatly lower the back more.

Im not to sure about the bolt up front? I havent rubbed on any bolt, ill check tomorrow though see where mines at.

But ok ill definatly join! Because there are a lot of wierd things with elantras that you cant ask people for help on here.

dude. super jelly of your lowness. i need a fender roll/pull something fierce. and that bolt in the rear, there are vids on youtube, but basically you take and cut that plastic piece where the bolt is out with a dremel, and secure the bumper elsewhere with a ziptie.

Thanks man! Ya those tow hooks are just getting destroyed, better tow hooks then oil pan or something. I rolled all my fenders and pulled my fronts. Fronts are like paper thin, rears i just beet the crap with a mallet as much as i could. Its just that annoying bolt and metal piece that sticks out where the rear bumper and fender meet that gets in the way. Do you by chance know the youtube video?

Ever thought about retrofitting a front lip from another car (like a civic type R ebay replica lip)? I think finding a lip that fits will make the look of the car stand out a lot more. I also agree on getting 16x8s but the 15's can work too. Glad you've turned it around!

I could defiantly give it a try! pick one up at a junk yard for pretty cheap probably, or ebay like you suggested. Ya the 15s work good for me now maybe in the future try for some 16x8s or 9s. Thanks for the idea though!

I just let mine self clearance. lol Made the tire do this:

My problem is my wheels actually hit the quarters on big bumps. Can't really fix that without raising it which I'm not going to do.

Haha thats the way to do it. I remember when my other wheels rubbed and it was taking chunks of tred out too. I had to raise it, very depressing day that was. Now i have no worries with these wheels though!
