broadz, absolutely LOVING the install, saw some pics on your facebook, but thoroughly enjoyed scrolling through the build pics at work this morning :p

you'll have to drop by sometime so i can get a looksee and listen!!

also, lol at the alternator whine, bloody ve's :p
Hey troy, Yeah ive been meaning to call past but its rather embarrassing how such a full on good sounding install can fail so damn badly at alternator whine! I think I might need to speak with someone whos had a bit of experience doing installs in these VEs

Im still saving up and looking around for good wheels.. will be either a real agressive 20 or 21. If the budget for 21s is going to be double that of a 20", I might just stick to only 20x10 or 10.5s with a 275 and 9s with 245s up front. Pity the offset on VEs is pretty bad though

Just a little tip, I know how much people **** caps.
But a cap will remove 99% of the whine. VE's are terrible cars, But from what I've heard of VE's with aftermarket gear a cap will filter out any whine there is. Just hide the damn thing & mount it as close to the amplifier as possible. 1farad per 1000wRMS. Better to go over than under as well with ratings.

          Cheers
          Mat

P.S- Install makes me jealous as hell hahaha

Result from Summernats 26: Runner up, Pro Street Class. Unfortunately, some alternator whine destroyed my chances of the win
Ahhhhhh, I was wondering why your car looked familiar. Great work on the install.

                Thanks very much Mat,

I'm taking your advice and mounting a 1 farad cap into the install.. I've also seen a case where someone has mounted a 0.1 farad cap inside the engine bay, close as possible to the alternator. That way, it is filtered as close to possible to the original source of the noise.
I absolutely cannot stand the look of capacitors and thought never in a million years i'de consider ever using one but these are desperate times and I just have to do what I need to.

Have never even seen that kind of machinery before, what kind of sorcery do you have down under? Awesome audio install, most of the time here where i live the audio installs looks like shit but they play louder than an airplane :P Bags would be perfect for your car sir!
                  wait..what?

really like the font on these, and the tails look great. Without a doubt would say this is a more luxury version of the Commodores/G8. Looking forward to seeing some stance in the future.

Well the car is based on what we call the Holden Statesman or Caprice. They come with the 210kw (280 hp) 3.6 V6 or the 260kw (350 hp) 6.0 V8. This flashier version has the high performance 307kw ( 410 hp) 6.0 LS2 V8 or 325kw (435 hp) 6.2 LS3 V8 with bigger brakes, magnetic ride control suspension, different bodykit and alcantara trim on the seats.

I don't think Holden are trying to hide the fact the VE (G8) and WM styling was based on the previous generation Audi A4/S4 and A8/S8 platforms.
The americans actually get this car but only for police use as it is being used to replace the fleet of outdated Crown Victorias. Its the Chevrolet PPV and the middle eastern countries get this car as the Chevrolet Caprice
China recieves an even more luxury V6 only version called the Buick Park Avenue .

                          no worries mate,

I've been looking at BMW fitment wheels for my car. I notice yours are X5 wheels, what size/offset works on yours and was there any guard chopping to fit them?

Hey mate. You inspired me to do the same with my gauges. I got bathing suit cloth for the stretch part. But can you please tell me what product/material did you use for "resining"?

                                This step:

                                Thanks a lot in advance!
