Well i ended up losing my job so funds have been of ab extremely rare comodity so looking for a new job has kinda takeb priority latley so the cars been sitting for probs a week or two but today i managed to get some headway with it i have all the tube cut to size and welded up into shape, ive started notching it for the chassi rails and it all fits beautifully so im over the moon and now i just have to start fitting it to the car

It was an AMAZING day today to be working on cars ayy

The family much to the gf's disgust

Un fortunatley i diddbt grab any pics making up the rad support but a mate did i was too excited haha ill grab them off him an post them up soon

Just on the bus going home to start playinh again so thought i may do another update lol.

Well because of the length of the motor i wasnt able to use the stock position and the stock rad would NEVER have flowed enough for the 2.5L so i was in ebay searching through radiators, 100's of radiators looking for something around 590x 380mm. Then i stumbled across a Nissan 300ZX radiator, its a 3L turbo so it would be perfect it was 595x450 but being side tanked im able to chop 70mm off the base cap in and all will be sweet and i was just going to chop the side supports down slightly to lose 10mm for clerance. Then it started looking like this

Taking the top rad support out was awesomr as it means installing and removing the motor will be piss easy instead of dropping it in at massive angles lol.

It fits, bonnet closes theres 20mm from harmonic balancer to rad and as u can see i diddnt endup modifying the rad, idea was good but as its a track car im trying to make it so that parts that can fail and be hit are also easy to fix. So rad costs 160ish to get it modified cost 200ish or i do what ive done for everything else an build the car around what i have lol. So the rad is now easy to change and is factory.

After looking at it for a couple of days and my crappy engine mounts and thinking how could this be better i decided to do this lol

Atm the engine mounts are tacked onto the chassi rail and im not happy with that lol so now everythings gone from the top rad support to the bottom rad support, im now going to stitch in some 50square into the top rad support and scollop 20mm out of it to fit into the chassi rail and along the bottom. This means i have made it to fit the rad perfectly and off the bottom support im going to go back to the original engine mounts on the X member. Kinda hard to explain but if u follow u know what im on about lol. I am also going to make some caps for the 50 square with nuts in it and a 5mm plates going to run from side to side pickup off the front guards my frame and hold bonnet pins.

This kinda leaves my up to date now so everything else that follows will be as its happening so updates may be abit slower lol.

    Cheers guys

Cheers heaps guys, its awesome to hear some good feedback lol. Ive copped alot of abuse about this conversion from ppl calling it a hack job an calling me another wanker lol. At then end of the day i have only ever seen a conversion similar to this doccumented once ive seen some ppl attempt it and throw it away and go SR20 but her for my first ever engine conversion im freaking loving it.

Well just looking through my piccies and i havent got anything decent for the clutch lol so may have to get some lol. But theres plent of other crap going on at the same time lol.

Interior has been stripped, have been tossing up what i am going to do for dash if i go full AutoMeter guages for speed, rpm, fuel level, coolant temp, oil pressure, AFR and boost. But because BMW use the diff for the speed sensor not the gearbox i can use the stock speed sensor, i took the coolant sensor out the old motor : before i ditched it so coolant should be good. Also the fuel level will work as im using the stock tank and a surge. Bit the stock dash also has an econo meter and i think that lends itsself to being a boost guage with some mods lol. Then ill just have to run an AFR and oil pressure guage seperate.

But seats in and mounted and harness is mounted untill i get my cage fabricated

Also been going hard with the front end fabrication lol. That will be the next update lol

I got a spare couple of mins so ill update lol

Main issue was the brake booster is located on the exhaust side and the manifold was extremely close to the booster, so i have modified the pedal box to accept a smaller diameter suzuki swift booster but it still has the same throw so i the adapted the E30 master to the new booster. Therefore i had a smaller booster and its been good as u need more force to pull it up but it has ALOT more feel to it

And then the issue was running the nissan clutch setup is different to bmw. Ill post that later lol
