Just on the bus going home to start playinh again so thought i may do another update lol.
Well because of the length of the motor i wasnt able to use the stock position and the stock rad would NEVER have flowed enough for the 2.5L so i was in ebay searching through radiators, 100's of radiators looking for something around 590x 380mm. Then i stumbled across a Nissan 300ZX radiator, its a 3L turbo so it would be perfect it was 595x450 but being side tanked im able to chop 70mm off the base cap in and all will be sweet and i was just going to chop the side supports down slightly to lose 10mm for clerance. Then it started looking like this
Taking the top rad support out was awesomr as it means installing and removing the motor will be piss easy instead of dropping it in at massive angles lol.
It fits, bonnet closes theres 20mm from harmonic balancer to rad and as u can see i diddnt endup modifying the rad, idea was good but as its a track car im trying to make it so that parts that can fail and be hit are also easy to fix. So rad costs 160ish to get it modified cost 200ish or i do what ive done for everything else an build the car around what i have lol. So the rad is now easy to change and is factory.
After looking at it for a couple of days and my crappy engine mounts and thinking how could this be better i decided to do this lol
Atm the engine mounts are tacked onto the chassi rail and im not happy with that lol so now everythings gone from the top rad support to the bottom rad support, im now going to stitch in some 50square into the top rad support and scollop 20mm out of it to fit into the chassi rail and along the bottom. This means i have made it to fit the rad perfectly and off the bottom support im going to go back to the original engine mounts on the X member. Kinda hard to explain but if u follow u know what im on about lol. I am also going to make some caps for the 50 square with nuts in it and a 5mm plates going to run from side to side pickup off the front guards my frame and hold bonnet pins.
This kinda leaves my up to date now so everything else that follows will be as its happening so updates may be abit slower lol.
Cheers guys
