    yey

Hey guys, its been a while. I have been productive however. I have been wanting to do a coilover conversion for a long time now and I finally got the will to follow through with it. Its been snowing a lot so the timing is good.
So I bought some MK2 kyb strut inserts and some 240sx sleeves because the inner diameter is the same. That cost about 135. The whole goal of this project was to shorten the strut so I could be low while still maintaing some travel. (allowing the strut to actually work properly).
It turned out to be a pain. turns out the front strut is tapered becuase of the insert nut. Also the sleeve wouldnt fit over the nut and the MK2 insert didnt fit at all. It was way too loose and too short (duh) so it wouldnt work with the nut. soooooooo this happened...

I took it to a buddy of my dads that has all sorts of fancy tools to basicly fabricate anything imaginable. He whipped my struts out no sweat. What we ended up doing was cutting the housing, welding and shortening the whole insert. He make a perfect perch where the welds for the old one were, also he machined the nut down so the sleeve could be slid over. The insert still didnt fit right though, so he made a spacer so it would fit snug with the housing. I really shouldve gotten pictures of everything, but shooo.

I spun the coils up at first because I thought I was gunna be real low. Turns out that wasnt the case. I actually had wheelgap. So I spun em down.

I'll get pictures someday. I didnt get pics of the rear suspension because its pretty self explainatory. The sleeve litterally just slides over the strut and sits on the stock perch. Whammmy.
