  • TopsyCrett: 1988 BMW 635csi (E24)

Sup guys, I present to you my first car: a 1988 BMW 635csi (E24). I am currently a high school student and I have been into cars my whole life. Most of my family members are Car enthusiasts, so naturally I would follow I was never really a BMW/Euro guy, but the E24 really sparked my interest in the brand.

A few months before I got my learners permit, I began looking for a newer car to replace my dad’s old 90’ Honda accord he was going to give to me. We eventually sold that, and started shopping around for 07’ Accord V6 6 Spd’s, or IS300’s. One day a guy who works next door to my dad mentioned he had a 88’ 635csi he needed to get rid of for more garage space… as he was leaving for Korea for a while and needed to park his cars inside. It had been sitting in storage for about 10 years, it was taken off the road after his wife left and has just been sitting since. He Bought it off of his Neighbor in 92’, making me the 3rd owner. Truly a diamond in the rough. Occasionally driven around the block… We made an offer, went to check it out and I knew I had o buy it. I had only seen one E24 before, and that was Mike Burroughs black L6. Began doing research on the car, and even though it was everything I wasn’t looking for (I wanted a 4 door Manual) Plans started arising to bring back this Modern Classic to its former glory. When we went to pick it up we tossed in a new battery and it started after one click. It has 161,xxx KMS on the car (99,xxx Miles) and it drives real smooth.. However, it needs a bit of TLC. Plan is to keep it clean, and get her back to 100%.

Enjoy the pics! I’ll keep you guys posted.

Since I've bought her in Oct, I have Undercoated the front of the chassis, and the wheel wells. Waxed and Polished with a Paint restoration wax and a Carnauba wax and a full interior detail including a leather clean and condition. Also small stuff like replacing anything that was broken (Hood Dampers, Exhaust hangers, Fuses, bulbs etc...)

How she Looked when I bought her.. not much has changed. Straightened up the front spoiler:

That is a classic! Love the lines on it. You should keep it and throw some airbags on it.
