Let's just say, even when painting outside, you should avoid inhaling paint fumes.

Dumper over stock W111 two piece hubcaps (use only the centres) on BLACK rims with standard tyres looks TOUGH.
The caps are from the 13 inch rims, but the centres alone will snap on to the tabs on your W108 14 inch rims!!

The earliest W109 6.3 shots featured this look on their test mules

As for the 'hot rod' look on an Old Benz...(a Great Guy did an AWESOME build on this thing!)

wow, what a car, red and black quite the contrast, i am thinking with the color of my car it will be a little more subtle, which is what i am after. I just found this pic, this is kind of what i am after, just not orange wheels:

alrighty, so some nice progress going on this past weekend. Got both front and rear windows back in and started putting in new door seals, tail lights, some wet sanding and buffing on the trunk, etc.....im so close!!

                rear window in:

                trunk seal in:

                emblems and tail lights:

                prepping the front glass:

                installed:

                bitchin:

The rear glass was a pain in the ass to install, one tip, the last time i installed a rubber gasket on a window was about 7 years ago, leave the gasket in the sun to soften it up! took three hours to get the back glass in. The front took under and hour, another hint, if you can, make sure that front trim on the glass is on the gasket before you install the glass, you will have a hell of a time putting it in after the fact. We tried to get it back in off the car, but it wouldnt stay. I was able to get it all in with exceptions to the corners, but it got to cold into the night and the rubber wasnt cooperating, so that will have to wait until a warmer day.

The door gaskets were from the dude from Ebay in Turkey, they are ok for the money you spend, def no where near Mercedes quality of course, but for a budget build, they are fine. They just ended up being a little over sized and didnt sit tight in the channels, are a little loose in some areas.

I think the day was pretty succesful, not too far off from being on the road again!

alright, been crazy busy lately, only 13 days till our wedding, here she is put back together getting gased up for our 120 mile round trip test drive to the wedding site, was the longest distance the car has driven in 17 years.

Spent all last night and this morning redoing the brakes, rebuilt the front calipers and put a new master cylinder in as the MC was leaking into the booster and the front caliper was leaking.

I have more images of progess but will post them later. I should still have some time to drop this before the wedding, still have some chrome to put back on and of course the interior needs to be put back in, anyways, heres the pic:

                        Looks incredible!

I just missed out on a W108 this evening. $1000 for a rust free low mile all original 280SE that needed a head gasket. This thread is not helping me....

Yeah, if i had more time and wasnt doing it for the wedding, i would have stripped the entire car down like i did the first one i owned:

and replaced all panels that were rusted instead of just cutting and patching out the rust, but i don't plan on keeping the car anyways, so, collision style repair is good enough for this one! But...no time because of wedding planning and having a full time job with 4 hour commuting doesnt help much. I miss the first one i had, it had only one rotty fender and that was it, everything else was surface rust, wish i kept it
