  • My very first car: Saxo VTS [slow build]

    hello everyone,

first a little introducing: i'm Twan from the Netherlands and this is my first car. i'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to cars but i'm very ambitious, i really want to learn everything and cant wait to have my very own project car. but for now, i drive a 2001 citroen saxo wich was bone stock when i got it. here are some pics how it looked when i got it:

yeah i know it's not so great but i thought it could be a really nice car. i really have a lot of plans for it. so first thing first was replacing the original radio for a more recent one, and adding a subwoofer in the back. by this time i realised i really wanted it slammed to the ground but i don't like a slammed car on stock rims. so i was looking for a nice set, traveled across half the country and my measurements where wrong so i ended up with this:

i also began to irritating myself to my ugly and faded grill so i rattle cant' it black,

i think it came out pretty nice.
right this weekend i got the opportunity to go and have a look at a set of bbs, i couldn't resist so i bought them and i'm pretty happy with them,

they don't fit right now, but i just have to re drill the adapters a bit and adding a little spacer so they don't hit the shocks. they're 7j but i want them to be as wide as possible(probably 8/ 8,5 j in the back. that's it for now, in two weeks my school starts and my budget won't be so big. that's why it's going to be a slow build. i hope you guys like it. it sure doesn't have the epicness your cars have. but hopefully one day it will. i will work to it one piece at a time

      little update

had afree day from work, so i took of my manifold cover because i wanted to polish it.
this is how it looked like (no i'm not going for the rust look)

just an example of wat a lazy f*cktard i can be sometimes, i started with a sandmachine and a few minutes later i realised i was just making more damage to the cover. so i began handsanding the fucker like a maniac, took me pretty much the whole day just to sand of the damage but i think it already looks a little better then before

will work on it whenever i get the chance to, so hopefully it will be on next week.

at the end of the day and after a short brainstorming about the car i decided to start with stickerbombing. just a little on my fuse box but will soon be more.

that's it for now, i'm planning to paint the valve cover next week.

        Small Update

        hey everyone

has been a while since i have updated this thread,
not that much progress have been going on cause school started again
and it' s taking up way more time then expected.
anyway today i had had a day off and with some friends, so we started playing with some cars.
rattlecan your car matt black is kind of a trend around my town so we did it to a friends car,

i also wanted to see how low i possibly go with the saxo. came up with something like this, pretty stoked cause i really like the way they look under the car..

Rim will tuck a lot more when it' s gonna fit, but i will definitely buy some wider lips.
think i'm going for a little poke, but feel free to give suggestions.
cause the rims will be splitted i thought to use some plastidip to give the wheels some more color,
but on the other hand i also like the way they look now. only problem is me being a fucktard with photoshop so i cant make a good render.

here's a pic of our mascot to make up for the little shitty update:

also, i' ve got some money to spend on the car, what do you guys thing? buyng all the stuff to
make sure the wheels fit properly or buy coils and slam this bitch already?
thanks for looking, and please feel free to make some suggestions

          alright ,just a little update,
couldn't bear the 4x4 height so i ordered coilovers.
probably getting them this week so can't wait to drop it
i'm also considering painting my steelies because winter en stuff,
just want to have something different than the ordinary black winterwheels.
          any suggestions?

for winter wheels go with diamonds

as for fitment a friend of mine ran with no problem 8x15 et25 on his vts
              195/45 tyres

i believe that 8 in the front and 8.5 in the back with 185/45 would be pretty awesome

              enjoy your work!

thanks for the opinions guys !
yes this car has a torsion axle indeed, so it's pretty easy to go low.
i was also thinking about fluor yellow or orange, but i'm
also thinking about light blue, might look pretty awesome when it's snowy.

about the bbs i've got some good news, have been working my ass off so i can get myself some nice lips.was thinking about 7,5X16 or 8Jx16 in the front and 8,5x16J in the back. still brainstorming about the tires. might do 185/40 but i'm not so sure..

i've also got my coilovers delivered yesterday so installation will probably on sunday,

i also have painted my valve cover but i dont have pictures of it yet,
                will post soon though
                again, thanks for looking

Try http://imageshack.us/ for uploading bigger pics.

I would go for 8x16 at the front with 195/40 tires.

it's about damn time for a proper
                      update

i will begin with a few old photo's i'd found on my laptop,
photo's where taken with my first DSLR ( Nikon D3100 )
car looked pretty much the same untill today but i thought i'd share them.

i'm also learning about photgraphy and stuff, already shoot a few cars
results wheren't that nice but practice makes perfect.
2 pics i took for a buddy of mine : his beast (coolest twingo i've seen haha)

it seems i was having some bad luck the last few weeks.

story starts with the constant velocity joint (thank you google translator)
every time i took a corner, my axle was making a weird noise..
took the wheel off and grease and shit was everywhere,
realized my velocity joint was busted cause the dustcover had a cut in it.
with a tax-up-to-date coming, i knew i would be fucked,
so i ordered a complete new axle cause the damn thing wasn't for sale in parts.
spent half a day replacing it, but sadly forgot to take photo's. sorry for that

The little Saxo was on the road again but a few days later i found a letter in the mailbox...

yup, my very first fucking speeding ticket..

the money i had from saving up for the bbs lips was needed to fund the ticket and the axle.. so that sucked

besides having to deal with a little bit of bad luck, i have been busy with choosing a wheel color..
i wanted to be a little different so i bought bright orange paint.
                      so the proces began..

i know, it looks like pink, but i swear it's bright orange

i personally **** the way the'd came out, so i will repaint them..
for now this wheel has a new function : spare tire.
i did liked the way the primer looked so wheels will most likely be white
                      or blue... can't decide
                      but suggestions are always welcome

                      HERE COMES THE GOOD PART
after a wrong delivery, i finally had a nice set of coilovers and shockabsorbers.

they where delivered this week but i couldn't make time to install them.
today i said fuck this shit to my homework and drove to a friend of me and began the
                      quest of dropping this bitch..

first time doing this shit but already learned a ton about suspension and stuff,
i now know that it isn't a good idea to try to take off a shock absorber when the lower control arm bush is still in place..
spend 1,5 hour getting my shock absorber back to the top mount cause of this little fuck-up
                      but hey, just learned something!
will shut up and let the pictures do the talking...

                      a bitch on a bridge

first strut housing out.. for a first time a real pain in the ass

                      huge difference

                      pic of her ass

                      finally got them in.

                      result was this

                      she really needs a bath

coils are almost maxxed out, wil do this asap
didn't had time left to work on the back but will do this next weekend.
i' m happy the car is lowered, handles a thousand times better then before
but it sure is not low enough
springs probably sink in a few mm when its driven a few times.
if that and maxxing them out doesn't work, i will order shorter springs

thanks for reading and please let me now what you think

                        Update,

it's been a while and a few thing's have been happening,
so first off all i lowered the back of the car, and painted another wheel white.

i know it has reversed rake and i **** it, but haven't had the time and motivation to lower the front.

                        so now some wheel-related news.
got the 1.5"lips for the front delivered and started polishing them.

still not really satisfied with the result, so i'm looking for 2400gr. coudn't get it at the local store.

anyway, decided i wanted to check how it would look like under the car so jacked it up
                        and this was the result.

was really happy how the rear fits., front will tuck a lot more but you'll get the idea.
wantend 2" lips in the rear and ordered them about a week ago. yesterday they'd arrive.

lips wil be mounted next week i think and i'm busy looking for adapters. it seems they have to be custom made so this will be done next month.

that's it for now. i know it's not much but progress is made slowly and i hope i have the wheels ready around spring time.
already goy a shitload of plans for the rest of the car but the wheels need to be done first.
                        thanks for looking

                            i'm not sure yet, i'm considering 175/50 or 195/40
i like the amount of stretch with 175 but i think the wall is to high

195 has a much nicer wall but not so much stretch

it's a shame they don't make tire sizes between those 2.
but my preference goes to 195. with a dunlop sp9000 cause it has a nice pattern

Since i'm bored out of my mind i decided to revive this thread to let you guys know what i've been up to. Sadly not that much but hey here it goes. All of this is just copy and paste from another forum so excuse the non chronical order :P,

The past year i have been going to college what pretty much stopped my cashflow for the bbs rs project and at the end i had to sell them.

after getting a place for my own because of the study some dipshit hit my car in the side panel.still no idea who it was,

car looked like this for a while:

So basicly my life sucked for a few months, i was broke as hell , sold my beloved RS and my car had a bruise. Finally after some time i got another job and the ball started rolling again. At the junkyard i pulled a original set steel wheels, and started to measure them.

got those bitches widened to around 7,5 and 8J.

A friend of mine sandblasted them for me.

                              And after some fresh paint:

finally got some tyres wrapped around them , 165/45,

was pretty stoked about it,but the front still needed way moar lows.

this time the suspension was completely maxxed out and the wheelgap was stil there.
time to start cutting wich resulted into this:

then all hell broke loose and we started cutting the springs even more. Eventually it sat on the bumpstops. Still not low enough. So we cut the bumpstops. Now we’re going somewhere:

                              hipstagram shizzle

                              attended a winter meeting:

this brings us to a few weeks ago. Last weekend i saved up enough money to start a new wheel project, BBS RM012 15” 8 & 8,5j :

At first i wasn’t really stoked on the color. But as a broke ass student i’ll drive it for this season and save up to rebuild them in the winter. The red did grow on me so it’s probably getting a bit darker red to match my interior in the future

adapters are being made as we speak so it’s finally getting there. when these wheels are ready the car will get lowered some more

That’s all folks, thanks for watching and let me know what ya think
