Little bit of an update:
So ODB hasn't had a drivers side knee bolster in about 3 or so years. The old one was cut up to fit the management to, but it never worked out. Finally managed to score what has been a bit of a unicorn to me, a lotus white bolster in decent shape.

Of course, that's not what this update is about, really. Around the end of February, I began to realize that the planned 16" wheels weren't going to happen in time for SoWo. So, I started looking for a set of back up wheels. Nothing really looked that appealing to me, until I stumbled upon a set of wheels in Vegas that were a killer deal. Big thanks to Eddie36 for one of the smoothest transactions I've ever had with this build.

A set of 17x8.5", et 13 RFs in absolutely perfect shape. I knew that size would be a little small for ODB, but I decided to mock them up just to see.

Ok, so not the best fitment in the world, but there was potential. I discussed my options at length with a few friends, and initially decided to keep them 17" and widen them out with 4" and 5" lips like the Equips. Then I did a little research and figured out for a little extra, I could make them 18." So with the help of my friend Mark, I sourced a set of 3.5" lips (the widest size currently available) and 6" and 7" barrels. Or at least, that's what I wanted, but apparently the manufacturer was out of 18X6" barrels, so Mark hooked me up with 6.5" ones instead. Which I hadn't measured for. Needless to say, the front fit was a little...snug.

A lot snug. That's with a 5mm spacer. The fabricator that had built the bags didn't do the most accurate job of it, so the left front hit. Hard. A set of 10mm front and 12mm rear spacers were ordered from Motorsport Hardware, along with a stud conversion kit. Mainly because fuck lug bolts.

While all of that was coming together, I assembled the new wheels and Mark shot a few photos.

Pretty sure we could get that one into the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Maybe.
Anyway, got the studs and spacers on the car, wrapped the new wheels in 245/35 and 255/35 Hankooks, and this is what I got.

18x10.5, 18x11. Not sure what the offsets are now. These came together in roughly a month, and I don't know that I could be any happier.
Now to save my money for the drive to SoWo.Last edited by theseeker411; 02-22-2018, 12:25 AM.

Also those spiders are one of the main reasons i refuse to go to california. that and my lack of money and what not. (but mostly them pesky black widows)
The wheel situation isn't looking too great at this point. On the hunt for some suitable back ups since I also changed my mind about the black wheels. Think I want to step them up from 16" to 18" for a better tire selection, which will require custom spun barrels and lips, so they more than likely won't make it to SoWo. Oh well.

So I got some work done on ODB over the last couple of days that I thought was worth sharing.
Job number one was replacing the center console that was ruined last summer when the radio was stolen. Yes I know, it's been sitting for months with a ruined console, but oh well.

Much better. Still have to get another radio though.
I decided to finally tackle the shitmess known as an e24 steering/suspension system. But before I could do that, I had to take care of these.

So far I've roasted 6 or 7 massive black widow spiders off of this car with brake cleaner and a long lighter. 5 of them in one week. Bastards.
Anyway, got ODB up in the air and removed the tie rods, center link, and idler arm all at once.

Then had my friend Alexander, aka gnarlycreature press in some new Moosehead Engineering upper control arm bushings to hopefully end the front end shimmy once and for all.

So new tie rods, center link, idler arm, upper control arms, and lower control arms all went in. While I was at it, I decided to address the welded in front camber plates.

In case you're wondering, yes, I did drive this car from Nashville to SoCal with these cracks. We noticed them in Texas, so by then it was really too late to do anything but hope that they'd hold up. Which they did, barely. The right side took a bit of grinding and hammering to come out, but the left? Nah. Just jammed a picklefork in it and it lifted right out. There's a video of it on my IG since I don't know how to post vids here. Good old Tennessee engineering.

That's better. Installed a set of Ireland Engineering race camber plates on top of the bags. I took two of the allen bolts out after this shot was taken to give me some more room for adjustment.
So that's pretty much where I'm at with this car so far. Still don't have any wheels. Gonna go down to that machine shop sometime and see whats up.Last edited by theseeker411; 02-22-2018, 12:17 AM.

We'll see what happens by the end of this week. If they haven't been touched then I'll take them to somewhere else.
At this point though, I'm cutting it really close with this wheel build. So who knows if they'll be done in time even if I do get them done/over to another shop.

That shouldn't take long at all, I would go talk to another machine shop and get a quote. It shouldn't be very expensive (I know this other guy is free, but if he's not going to ever get to it I'd at least look into that option)Originally posted by theseeker411 View PostEnlarging the center bore from 66 to 72.56mm.
