  • british e30, low(ish) and slow

so i thought id start a build thread as i never really bothered with one with my first car.

okay so i picked my car up for the sweet price of just £380 from a guy me and my friend knew from a few miles away, its a 316i. when i picked the car up it was entirely stock and has a idle problem when its cold, thinking its my coolant temp sensor so i ordered a new one and just need to figure out where it goes now.

i couldnt drive the car yet because i bought it when i still owned my previous car, only being 19 i couldnt afford to insure both cars (i can barely afford just the e30 to be honest) but this gave me time to clean her up, get some low springs and fit the new bottom arms i got with the car as the old ones were nocking like shit. whilst it was sat on my drive i also fitted a lux leather sport wheel and a wood effect shifter and new gear gaitor.

i eventualy insured the car and got it on the road, but at first i had lowered the back end on cut 60mm springs, anyone who knows how sketchy the rear suspension on an e30 will know that with the springs cut its pretty much deadly.. but i rocked it for a little bit, it was also arse down stance as i just had 60mm springs on the front :\ not my best decision i know.

afte that i bought some good 60mm rear springs and cut the fronts to give me a bit better stance, the front end is still too high but with the amount im spending on insurance\fuel etc i can barely afford to buy anything.. so bear with me on getting mods done as i dont have cash on tap haha.

so then i got some euro rear lights off ebay, and also picked these up for just £20 :| they are tatty and didnt come with rails but recline and are so much comfier than the stock comfort seats that i got with it.

to get the seats in iv had to buy universal sliding rails off ebay, then went and got some square metal tubing from b&q and took the tubing to my work to mill and cut the tubing into some form of sub rail to bolt the universal rails to then bolt the subrails to the car, as the track of the bucket seats wasnt wide enough for the track of the stock e30 seat fittings, it works fine and im happy with the little amount of money it cost me to do it.

my plans now are to get some staggered fitment and coilovers/cut front strut on the front as its nowhere near low enough or wide enough, but like everything i just need money to keep it going :') if you have read this far then thanks, i know its not the most exciting build yet.

il update as i get more stuff done

    as it stands
