      • thanks guys for the positive feedback! It's almost back together actually.

If anyone is local enough to CT come out to Staggered this Sunday 5/5. A bunch of my friends locally run the show, it's an awesome venue and the cars are top notch. You will not be disappointed. The car will be there, it's my favorite local show of the year.

              • update: I've been horribly sick for about a week and in-turn missed the show that I wanted to first bring the car out to I even spent a whole day working on it while I was sick hoping to make it and just couldn't do it. I'm finally just starting to get my voice back and almost feel normal again so now I need to get back to work.

I'm trying to get everything buttoned up with it now and ready for the drive to SoWo! What this means is getting the car registered, bleeding the brakes a bit more and getting all the air out of the cooling system.

On a side note one of my good friends is trying to sell his very rare set of WRD wheels. Take a look if you have a use for 5x100 stuff. If my car was 5-lug I'd be all over them!

                  • If I can't source a good brake master and get it installed over the next few days the car isn't going to SoWo. The master I had was from a "show" car that was sitting a few years and I've bled the whole system about 4 times and get no air at the calipers but the pedal still goes to the floor. The booster is good, it came right off a car working fine.

This is beyond frustrating I'm just pulling whatever strings I can to make this happen. Let's see if I can get lucky this time!

Thanks fellas! The kind words have kept me pushing on this thing even though I keep running into problems, the brakes being the latest.

I wanted to pop in a little update that the interior is essentially all together. I've got a little bit of cleaning to do, sprucing up the dash and some minor trim pieces, but I figured I'd rustle a few jimmies first. I put the new headliner in last night, and while it's not for everyone, I absolutely love it. With the 90s styling I'm going with on the car it'll all make sense eventually.

I was really pumped about the Pirelli edition visors and that little piece of black felt trim for the sunroof because I completely forgot that I had either of them. Not to mention, that little piece of felt trim is basically non-existent if I had to source one. A little royal red micro-fleece never hurt anyone.

The egg-crate look you see on the sunroof panel is the stamping used to stiffen it because that is actually a piece of sheet metal that snaps into the underside of the sunroof. Unfortunately when recovering it, I couldn't come up with a way to fill all that in while still keeping it flexible enough to reinstall, but maybe someday I'll pop it off and get creative with some foam. For now it doesn't bother me.

                            • Have you tried a power bleeder? I had a clutch master one time that wouldn't bleed for the life of me. Put on a power bleeder, and it bleed in 5 minutes.

                              • I haven't tried a power bleeder yet, but the brake lines themselves have no air in them, just seems the master was airbound.

I determined that the master I had was indeed shot, when I took it out of the car tonight it was just draining fluid from the reservoir out the ports, which should not happen unless the plunger is depressed.

I bench bled a used master I had sitting around and was able to get some improvement in braking power. I'm going to bleed the brakes at all 4 corners tomorrow and see where that puts me. If I need to, I'm going to order a master from German Auto Parts which should be here Tuesday, just in time to get installed and make the drive. Luckily I have the whole day off on Wednesday and we depart for GA at 3AM.
