  • SW Florida MK6 ( Air and Trunk ) build

I spent a long time test fitting and evaluating different ideas for my air and stereo setup.

A big reason I was attracted to air ride was the extra equipment and the opportunity to dress it up.

    My priorities were:

Enough room for subs, amps, and extra battery.

Keeping OEM safety equipment and functional spare tire

    Hardlines visible

    Clean and simple design.

This quickly led to the conclusion that the rear seat was not going to stay. This was not a big loss to me in how I use the car.

I used cardboard and the templates from AccuAir to dry run all my pieces.

    On to the pics:

    Seats and everything removed:

Test fit of AccuAir components, with Air Zenith OB2, 5 gallon skinny tank, and full size spare.

Covering the whole trunk area in texture coat to cover the low paint coverage from VW

I created a thin floor cover of carpet wrapped wood and built up the air components on a work bench.

Fitting the sub enclosures, amp rack, and 2nd battery

The OEM safety triangle and first aid kit are in the stock location on the driver side fender well

The OEM jack and tools were stored in a custom mount

All wiring was loomed and tucked. Bulkheads were used for lines through body. Custom fire extinguisher was added to passenger side fender well

Top cover panels were made using, MDF, OEM trunk carpet and plexiglass.

Custom covers were maid from MDF shaped round to cover the body that gets left exposed when rear seats and seatbelts were removed.

    5th wheel to match others

Working on a slightly new top cover and some minor changes.

Got a Viar in chrome, since it seems impossible to find AZ in chrome now. I think I can mount it on its side and not have the cutout in my cover.

Gonna change the top cover to make the copper lines more visible.

              Hardline the compressor.
