  • Crown down under.

Howdy! Thought i'd do a build thread because that's what you do!
I'm Terrance, i'm 22, from the ass end of Australia where the weather is shit and most of the cars around are flogged out Commodores.
I've been a lurker for a while on here but never had a car i could really post up and what not. But a few weeks back i swapped my Commodore i had for my new ride a MS123 Toyota Crown Super Duper Royal Saloon. So much style and comfort compared to the commodore!

Mate of mine that had it works at a local dealership as a mechanic and it got traded in by some old bird who wanted to upgrade to a Yaris so he snapped it up cheap as wholesale.. all with 155000 Km's on the clock!
Drove it for a while, popped the head gasket then it run out of rego while he was fixing that and never re regoed it. Wanted to sell it and i pitched the idea that a manual Commodore would be easier to sell around here than a crown so we did the swap..

While he had it he lowered it using a "makita lowering kit" and had it rolling on 17" Ford Territory steelies painted black but i personally didnt like them so i told him he could keep them. he ended up selling them to another mate who put them on the rear of his s13 as skidders.

    Here it is!

The day after I got it, in went the 6000k HID's and a few days after that I threw on some foggies that were in my sisters R31 skyline when she bought it. I love HID''s. haha.

Had a mate gas up the aircon nice and cold for me so the fridge in the parcel shelf actually did it's job and it is magic! Fit's 3 cans or 2 bottles of water. My favorite part of the car!

Plans are to throw some decent wheels on it, get some stretch happening, and make it look a little bit less Nanna spec. But still having a bit of Nanna in it. would looove to find some meshies for it but bit hard to find for not heaps of coin around here.. Might even get some steelies and whitewall some tyres for them..

Redo the stereo with some sort of false floor setup all the while still having bootspace.

Throw the roof rails ive got for it on and a thule rack for the BMX.

Paint the bumpers. They are peeling from where someone has had a shot but fucked up painting them..
Paint the bonnet because that also had a shoddy job done to it and theres filler cracking on it and being a Spraypainter myself it really bugs me. Or I might paint strip it and rust it. Not sure yet. Might even respray the whole thing in a dark gold colour or something like that. depends on how motivated I can get!

I'd like to change the suspension at some point. I just feel a bit dodgy rolling around with cut springs.. Coilovers would be ideal but there's not heaps of info online about them and being in one of these. Sad times.

Not too much more plans as of yet, but you never know. Might get a shed one day where i can work on it and throw a 1UZ in it or something silly.

All comments and suggestions are welcome! I'll try to keep this updated as much as possible!

May as well post up a bit about my Patrol aswell. My dad left it to me when he passed in 2010 but it busted a head last year around this time and it's been a slow progress getting it up and running again. Diesels are fucking expensive to fix! I've only put decent rubber, custom plates that say T1 (nickname a few mates gave me), DVD head deck in it and painted the flairs, door handles and moulds to suit the rest of the car. Needs a suspension lift and new wheels, barwork, winch and steps. It's an endless list really. I love it. But it's still broken.

Aaaand here's a picture of my old commodore.. Was clean but i wanted something new to play with that was a bit different from everything else around here! Had the standard 3.8 litre buick V6 with the manual and just had a catback 2.5" lukey sports exhaust and a $20 pod filter. Put ot on the dyno for shit's and giggles, surprisingly pulled 102.4kw at the wheels!
Great fun with the manual and minispooled diff.

I'll post up some pictures of a few buddies rides someday too. one used to have a Veilside kitted single turbo 350Z that was ugly but cool, another buddy has a e30? 2 door beemer with an RB25 in it and a slammed 04? GT Forester. Another has an S13 thats cool as shit. and another has an Evo that he uses in hillclimbs and a WRX autocross/rally bus. and another has an R34 GTT?
Come to think of it, my mates have sweet cars. haha.

    Hey mate,

Big fan of the Crown saloons myself

These cars can pull off the oldskool shakotan look very well
Some nice Jap 15s or 14s + slammed on the ground would be perfect

p.s. please do not ruin this car with a damn roof rack

I want to stick with 14 or 15's.. no bigger. I need the rack to cart the pushy around! Don't want to go messing up the plush velour.

It's nothing special.. Just a 4 door Manual NA Sillouhette. She loves it and has been pestering me to get her some meshes and lower it! But I'll get a picture in the morning.

Unfortunately it's the RD28 intercooled turbo diesel. Way too underpowered and pushing near on 3 tonne, it's slower than a wet week.
