Again, thanks for the advice, I'm sure I'll end up putting it to good use.
Mine were a set of old magnesium centered wheels that came off a camaro. How much space is there around the cavalier centers? It looks like it will be a tight fit in the pictures.

If you have any more questions I will try to help in any way I can.

The faces will be a tight fit in the barrels, so you will have to beat them in with a hammer. I measured to find how much backspacing I needed and got that as close a I could with a ruler. Then I mounted a dial indicator on the shock and just kept spinning and pounding until it was really close to perfect. Oh and measure from one of the inside lips and not the outside lip because with used wheels chances are the outside lip will be bent slightly. You should get the in-out movement below .045" but as close to .000 as possible. I tacked mine together and took them to the tire shop to make sure the wheels would balance before I finished welding them just in case I needed to fix something. I think I got mine to within .030" and I have no wobble or vibrations from them. The best advise I can give you is to take your time and make sure you get them right before you start welding.
I know what you means about the jbody guys... they usually take a while to accept certain styles, haha.

That's really good advice!! I'll have to tell my brother and see how he feels about it.

    --------------------

Got all 4 barrels ready for new faces, ran into a problem (as stated above) but I have a way to make it work.
I cannot WAIT to get these things mounted.... it'll totally change the look of the car.

That is NOT the offset that I'll be running.... that was just a test fit to see how tight it'll be.
    Now to pick a color...
    White?
    White with polished lip?
    Black?
    Dipped in chocolate?

On a side note, I'll be ordering stiffer springs later on in the week... meaning more lows are to be had in the near future.

Things are going to get interesting. I have a feeling the cavy is going to be pretty fin' sezzy in September.

Holy snap! You know how long I've been waiting for you to either, chime in here, or update your thread? The whole reason I'm going this route is because I saw yours and absolutely loved how it looked.
Got any advice for welding the wheels together? I've got faith that, between my brother, dad, and me, we'll be able to do it, but I'd love to know exactly what you did to get it to work.
As for 15x8s, look for some truck wheels, specifically 80s 3/4 ton trucks. Unless you don't mind spending about 100 bucks, you could get some barrels here

Don't know if I'll be able to get anything done today, it's rainy and all crappy outside. We'll see though.

TONS of measuring, patience, and a dash of insanity...

Got another barrel ready for epicsteeliewheelness. Got rained on hardcore so I quit and played some Halo 2 with the kids.

No picture, because it's just another barrel...

Should be done with the barrels and possibly the faces tomorrow... fingers crossed for another step towards fitment.

In the meantime, watch a bunch of Japanese guys get really excited over an amazing drift run.

How about Daigo Saito catchin' some air?!

Wow I need to get my 240 running.

    Okay, see ya tomorrow.

Yeah I ragged on them hardcore when I was younger... then I needed a car ASAP and this happened to be cheap. Now that I've put so much time and energy into it, I've grown to love the guts out of it.

    Thanks!

More progress is to be had as the day goes by! Progress pics tonight.

On of them random, not really needed updates, update.

Here are some random shots just for fun.

Just hit 1000 miles on the newish engine, she's purrin' like a kitten. :3
Still saving up for springs... should be getting them early next month... fingers crossed.

Got 2 of the 10 inch barrels cut and ready for the new centers. Should be finishing up the other 2 barrels tomorrow and hopefully getting a good start on the other steelies.

    15x10 Ford truck steelie

    Wide enough for ya?

    Rough cut

Ooooh purdy, ready for a new center Minus the sandblast... of course.

Not really sure on the tire size I want to run... I'm thinkin' 205/45, but possibly a bit wider? We'll see... as of now I have a set of 195/60s that I'll run for the time being. (Broke status FTW)
    Updates tomorrow.
