Love the progress man, im actually refinishing my style 5's aswell!
Do you have any picture's of how your lips ended up?
I sanded one of my lips and it doesn't seem close to being ready for polish and I want something to compare it to.
can't wait ti see the end results!
I'm waiting for my polishing compounds and wheels to come in but here is how it looks when polished with Turtle Wax Polish and Mag's & Aluminum Polish.

Thanks man it looks exactly how mine does, I polished them with mothers aswell.
I guess that will have to do since I don't have any other tools to polish them.

You can put polishing wheels on a corded/cordless drill or a dremel. I think that extra shine will totaly be worth it. At first I thought this would be fine but I was like hey, they are already apart. Might as well to that extra step and make them even better.

Hey that's true, what kind of polishing wheels can you put on a drill?
All the ones I found are for angle grinders or bench grinders.

Search Amazon I bet they have something that you can use if you don't want to run to the store. When I used the Turtle Wax I bought a wheel from Advanced Auto Parts and just twisted the drill head to lock onto the metal stem price that is on wheel.
Whenever I sand and polish, I go all the way up to 2000 grit wet! 400 is usually the lowest I would start at. So I would recommend sanding some more before machine polishing.
This thread is great, and I definitely love your pictures man! Some inspiring and awesome work, especially for a youngin', haha. Keep it up, can't wait to see the style 5's finished, I'd go with a bright silver or white too, I think those would look classy as hell.
My polishing kit came in the mail yesterday and once I got home from the BMX track I went right to my basement. I was only able to do one lip so far. I worked on my lip and decided to mess around on Photoshop till about 2 in the morning. I had to get up at 6 for work, otherwise I probably gotten at least another lip done.
^White, Brown, Black
^Before anything was applied.
^Used paint thinner to take off the existing Mother Mag and Aluminum Polish.
^Added the brown tripoli and it looks as if it made it look a little more scuffed than what 1500 grit wet sanding did.
^Another photo of brown tripoli added.
^Added some white diamond compound. Cleaned up nicely, just a few little marks.
Looks great !
I just finished all 4 of my lips, I got the polishing kit from a local polishing shop, and
all i have to say it was so worth it. I got a great mirror like shine!
