  • The Corrado. ***PIC HEAVY***

Been on here for years but lost my login details and my old email account had to be shut down, which has forced me to start a new account.

anyway used to have a bagged clio 172 which i stripped for parts and sold shortly after a mag feature

which leads me to my current project. alot has happened in the last 6 months of ownership so i have copied a build thread from another forum (www.rollhard.co.uk), i appologise if it doesnt make complete sense!

Well the story is I bought the car after looking over everything, couldn't fault it so parted with £900, drove it to the petrol station and put £60 into it and started to drive home. Stopped off at maccy d's and noticed something dripping from the back, sure enought the fuel tank had a hole in it at the top and pissed out all my fuel had to get the fire brigade out to clean up the fuel then called the AA to get recovered home to find I'm only covered for roadside assistance which left me stuck 4 hours away from home! Had to stay in a travel lodge till the morning an find a garage to try and fix it, only prob was it was new years day and every where was shut! In the end I had to drive it home stopping off every 10 mins for fuel nightmare!

the night i got her, poor thing leaking from her arse

sold the wheels and coilovers from it and made back £450 on the car so it makes up for the shit i went through getting her!

i found a set of ACT sx 3 piece splits which were in quite bad condition and decided to fully refurb and rebuild them. fully mirror polished and custom made 4" dishes for the rear. fronts are 8j and rears are 10j with the new dishes.

    got tyres on
    fronts - 195/40 on 8j

    rears - 225/40 on 10j

    all together

so now the wheels are finally ready i can get them on the car and start measuring up for the custom struts to get the car laying frame.

spent the afternoon stripping the car down so the bodywork can be started, excuse the iphone pics, dont tend to carry a camera around with me at the shop!

also test fitted the wheels to see how much arch work is needed. the fronts are perfect, didnt want any poke so they tuck nicely to allow maximum drop once the air is fitted. the rears poke a fair bit which i expected, so going to build the arches round the wheels for a snug fit.

my custom gaz struts came finally!

ive had a notch put into the fronts for camber adjustment

and also bought a new key for the 'ol girl

    custom cross bar half cage

    smoothing bits off

    rear badges

    rear wiper

    numberplate recess

also had a set of all red rears made

decided to smooth the gutters off the roof and also found an awkward spot of rust at the top of the windscreen.

    smoothing the roof

    random shots

i had problems with the fitting of my bastard wide rear wheels.
to get everything tucked away under the arch i bought a set of 195/45 tyres which when fitted would solve all my arch clearance issues. 195/45 tyres and 10j wheels dont go. spent 2 hours trying to get them on using various stretching methods, but the tyres were just too skinny. im waiting on the tyre company to see if i can swap them for 205/45's which should work, still giving me the arch clearance i need.
couple of things have been done while im still waiting for paint. removed the seam weld on the back, welded up and smoothed out. also fitted 2 sets of camber shims to the rear giving me -3 degrees

    turns out, a 195/45 tyre does fit a 10j wheel.....just.
paid a visit to faz at specialist tyres and within 20 mins they were on and looking insane.

    before 225/40, after 195/45

things aren't moving along very quickly, come across so many problems that i didnt account for and also had to wait longer than i thought for the paint, valves and air legs. but i now have everything so fingers crossed theres no more problems!

been working on the rear arches rounding them off to get them wide enough for the wheels

how it looks from the rear

    instagram edit (follow me @iheartrims)

fully down at the rear, will not phyically go any lower! had to relocate the brake lines as where the rear beam folds up they pinch on the bottom of the chassis. also fitted new indercator-less front wings

front and rear arches are done. widened and rounded them off, look alot more meaty

and this is how the project currently sits, shouldnt be too long until its painted so will update soon, thanks for reading my messed up thread

              x2!!!!

Too bad you got rid of the original shape the arches have..

Those 195s on a 10 really look insane. Not sure if im a fan I have 205/40s on a 8 and 215/40s on 9'' rears, also Falken 912s. You sure a 205 wouldnt give you the clearance needed?

Im really looking forward to seeing this finished!

i didnt really like how the arches flattened off at the edge so wanted to follow the curve of them to the end. TBH im not a fan of the stretch, a 205 tyre should work, im trying to sell the 225's at the mo so as soon as i get the money for them ill switch the tyres.

                  thanks for your comments
