      • Honestly I've never heard it either, and still don't quite know the full details of the phrase. But it's about the funniest thing I've heard in a loooong time.

I need a skid plate too! I have a 3'x2' sheet of 1/8" steel but there's nowhere to bolt it.

I knowww... same here. I think in the end I'll probably just weld it to the bottom of the pan.

Please do this. I will pay you. Make it like one of those old Indian cave drawings.

And yes, if she found this I am not quite sure what would happen. Hopefully she would find it as hilarious as I have.

                Hopefully.

                        • Alright. Very minor and somewhat uninteresting unless you're me update time.

A couple of days ago I backed my up to go to work and there was a rather large puddle of oil underneath. It was engine oil... I guess I had finally scraped through my pan.

So today I fixed the pan and made a skid plate. I really want to make a crash plate for both the engine and trans as I'm scraping the trans up pretty good but I have neither the time nor the lift (the Jeep is on it). So this will do for now.

                          Here's the pan...

And the problem area. Oil is seeping through here and the drain plug is leaking.

                          The drain plug

So I grabbed a spare pan (no it doesn't fit) and cut out the drain plug hole

Then I cut out the messed up hole on the other pan and welded the good stuff in as well as some spare metal to fill in the leaky spot I had also cut out. The new drain plug is also flipped upside-down to keep the hole farther from the ground.

Then I cut a section out of a piece of (I think) 1/8" steel after it was wire wheeled of all the rust.

Aaaaaand there you have it. I'll be the first to admit that this is far from my best work. But I don't have the tools to bend this thick of metal or the time to make it perfect. It'll do just fine though I should think.

                          • So yesterday I went to the junkyard to get a rear hatch that I thought was rust free but actually wasn't. Needless to say I left it there. I did however pick up a mint hood for cheap as well as a dead pedal out of a '90 CRX. I honestly didn't even know that EFs came which such luxuries. But shucks, it was 99 cents! Bag it. Coppin' it, washin' it, 'bout to go and get some compliments.

It was actually $5 but same thing.

                            So I cleaned it up.

And then I pulled up my carpet to see what I had to work with. Can I just say how much I love Honda? They must make the carpet, the foam beneath, and the actual body on every car the same. There were flat spots for the bolts and a nifty foam pop-out like in the wooden puzzles we built when we were kids.

                            I sanded off the paint...

Then I cut the heads off some spare bolts and welded them to the body. No pics of this.

Here it is finished though. And OH MY GOSH. I just drove in on the highway and I feel like I'm in a (God forbid) BMW. It's so presh. First time on the highway with the new suspension as well. I'm more than pleased. Ecstatic would be the word.

                            Love you all.

                            • It was your turn to do the dishes this week; I hope you didn't slip that dead pedal in with the fine China.

                              • My ae86 was originally an auto, but it had all of the holes and mounts for a clutch pedal.
