I don't see a street sign just skidding over a rock, regardless of what it's bolted on to, it will bend and probably be punctured easily.

If you're going to get a skid plate, get something that will actually fulfill the purpose. My $.02

Haha that thing is thicker than my pan. If something that is sticking 14 inches out if the ground can cut through that skid plate then its gonna cut through the bottom of my car.

It's obviously screwed straight into that big tubular cage deal on the front. It isn't even meant to protect anything, it's to skid over stuff. With such a narrow span of surface area to effectively just get it to ski over obstacles, I don't think he has anything to worry about.
