Cheers Man! I agree with the tail-lights, I've had them pretty much since I ought the truck so time for a change.Originally posted by DDM View PostThat woodwork is so cool! Love it!
Oh and I like the truck too:P Just not really the taillights... all reds would be nice I think.
Also, I finally got my new Camera Lens back so I'll go and take some decent pics of the truck within the next couple of weeks, so you can see what the new wheels have done for it

Thanks guys!
@Nick: Wouldn't it be cool of there were metal emblems embedded in there! That's probably a bit out of my league

f*#cking epic bro! looks mint as, awesome work! that last pic almost looks like there's brass emblems over the wood or something, fully doesn't look like its laser etched into the wood. EPIC!

What do you do when you've got spare time? You get wood. Hard wood
I like what a few guys on here have done with wooden flooring in their car trunks, and there are a handful of trucks with a similar thing going on. So with a 2 week break from university I thought I'd make the most of it.

^ The tray's existing state

^ Got Pine

^ Got to work

^ Ended up with this.

I thought I'd make the most of my resources at uni, so did something a little bit different with the laser cutter.

^ Began with etching the dark areas of the image.

^ Then it cuts all the vector edges of the image.

^ It's pretty freakin cool watching this thing work....
So made you guys a little video of it working:

And the final product:

Since it's going to be out in the elements I went with staining and varnishing it....

^ First Coat

^ First coat done.
And finally the second coat went down which darkened it to where I wanted, and made it nice and glossy....
So here's the finished product!:

Pretty happy with the final result

Plan is at some point to paint all the charcoal areas of the tray satin black, which should make the colour of the wood pop out even more!
Thanks for looking and comments are definitely welcome.Last edited by Brimmy; 09-23-2012, 04:49 AM.
