  • Jap S15

    Hey everyone,

Thought I'd start a build thread to show you guys my S15 here in Australia.

Here is my 1999 Jap Spec S15. I bought it completely stock standard, with a kicked in front right hand guard at the end of March this year. I picked it up from Brisbane, it had super gay 19" wheels on it, so I negotiated with the old owner to take the wheels off, drop the price and I'd bring my own wheels up to drive home on.

I brought her home looking like this, on 2 pairs of missed matched wheels. Did look like crap. Sorry about the picture quality...

I had a pair of Bride reclinable seats on S-Chassis rails sitting at home, so I decided to chuck them in the night I got the car, major improvement on the standard seats.

I also had a set of Blitz 03's sitting at home in some pretty bad ass sizes, but unfortunately, in shitty Toyota offset. By the time I got home from picking up the car, putting in my Brides and chucking the rear wheels on, it was pretty close to 1am, so I decided to call it a night. Not to mention, it was bucketing down most of the time!

The next day, I woke up nice and early, lowered the coilovers as low as they would go, fitted smaller tires to the front wheels and chucked it together...

Went to Queensland Raceway to watch a Morning Session of drifting, couldn't wait to get back into it! Managed to score a photo from the day also from the boys from Freeworks

The next day, I removed the helper springs from the front coilovers at my mates house and straight after we cleaned up and he snapped a pretty awesome photo!

After that, I went to a few car events and a few different photos were taken...

I got sick of how soft the Tein CircuitMasters were, so I decided to take them out and acquired a brand new set of Racing Logics, I highly recommend Racing Logic coilovers. All parts from Japan and assembled in Australia!

I also got over the need to run bolt on spacers and the wheels were still hitting my coilovers, so I ordered a brand new set of the new styled Work Meister S1R's in satin black spoke finish with polished step lips in 18x9 for the front and 18x10 for the rear

My car went to a good mate of mine who is a painter, he immaculately repaired my front right hand guard, as well as welding up the holes to the boot lid and fixing my new dmax duck tail. We also tucked the loom up above the guard to stop my front wheel rubbing through the loom!

Here are a few photos from the paint shop with the guard fixed and the boot holes welded and finished off

Here is a teaser shot of the new style Meisters out of their box!

I also went to Racer Industries and picked up some awesome Project Mu wheel nuts! Only the best!!

After I picked up the car from the paint shop, I took her home, played around with the coilover height and fitted my wheels. Here is where she sat after a few hours of playing around with the coilovers and my guards, along with fitting all adjustable arms and setting up my wheel alignment.

Not long after, I had fitted a Nismo Pro 2 Way LSD.

I decided to head up to the Downshift #1 meet at Rocklea Showgrounds along with my freshly fitted carbon/plastic 3 piece front lip.

Here is a rolling shot from a good mate, Ben Birch!

And another photographer mate, James Dean, producing the goods..

Also, did a wedding for my mate...

I attended the Hardtuned.net Private Trackday! Skidpan was so awesome, had tonnes of time to get back into it and get a good feel for my car again! This was a good shake down for my car, decided it needed a bigger radiator, so we put in a Koyo Triple Copper Core along with some Water Wetter, as well as needing more lock, so we fitted some steering rack spacers in before I headed to Queensland Raceway.

Since then, I attended QR, was fantastic with the extra lock spacers, got a whole half a turn lock which makes a big difference for S15's... Put the biggest smile on my face when I came out of Turn 6 and realised I had more lock to go!

Decided that the S15bb turbo just won't cut it, so here is the replacement. A trusty T518z 10cm. Will be going Brian Crower 256/256 cams, Nismo 740cc Injectors, Deatsch Werks fuel pump, Power FC Djectro and Nismo Coppermix clutch.

To date, the T518z is installed on my car, along with the Deatsch Werks fuel pump. I have my clutch sitting here ready to go, and I've ordered Valve Springs and Retainers. I will be taking the head off and getting it skimmed in the next few days and putting on a metal head gasket and new Nissan head studs.

Here is a picture from Downshift #2 meet.

As well as some awesomeness bolted on. Gangster Jap manifold with tuned length runners along with a T518z. Also, I have replaced the rubber breather line from the head to the turbo to a lovely braided line. Now all I need to do is remove the ABS unit and change the solid lines to Non-ABS ones.

Here are a few rolling shots heading to Downshift #2 meet.

Thats all for now, but will keep this updated!
