never seen drop plates. what are they?

They drop the rear axel allowing for more rear travel/clearance!

never seen drop plates. what are they?

As mex said, they're plates that relocate the stub axle 80mm higher, so you can wind the coilovers up 80mm, leaving the axle in a nearer to standard position.

They drop the rear axel allowing for more rear travel/clearance!
