Gotcha, yea I don't have the tools either but like they always say, it's not what ya know, it's who ya know. There seems to be a ton of Volvo guys in the Portland area so I created a little network for myself and found a guy that shortened the strut tubes for me, hooked me up with a spare set of torque rods, a panhard bar, a rear turbo swaybar, AND sandblasted them all for me, got another guy who got me the rear S10 shocks, and got in touch with another guy who can make the spare set of torque rods and panhard bar adjustable for me for $40. When it's all said and done it won't be cheap, but it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than getting everything at retail prices. The RSI struts are actually the most expensive single cost part of the whole build.

Well I got a little done on the strut tubes, now I just need to get the struts!

and my buddy got the torque rods, panhard bar, and swaybar all sandblasted for me. Now off to another friend to have them made adjustable, then off to the powdercoater!

I have no such luck here in NY. Junkyards have no 240s in them. I'm the only one rolling around...So I feel obligated to do everything right. With great wagons come great responsibility

haha yea I swear you can't drive a block in SE Portland without seeing at least 1 or 2 wagons. I mean they're all owned by old hippies that have run them into the ground, but they're still everywhere

I'm curious, when is it okay to cut springs? Half the time on this website I see people throw shit storms for cut springs and others people encourage it.

Regardless, loving it! That inspiration Volvo is sick too

Thanks! It's going to be a little slow going until the end of the term, but it will be done by summer!

Thanks! I can't really speak for other cars on cut springs, but as far as the volvo goes, cut springs aren't bad at all, I think it really depends on the car though. The ride quality is really not much different from before I cut them and I have 3 out of the front and 2 out of the back right now.

small update but still an exciting one, finally got my torque rods and panhard bar back from my buddy after he made them adjustable for me, I think they turned out great, and for $40, I can't complain! Now they're off to get powdercoated by another buddy...for FREE!

got the parts back from the powdercoater and pressed the poly bushings in and I gotta say, I love the white and blue look AND I ordered the front struts and rear springs/perches so it looks like I'll be all ready to assemble very soon!

It's getting closer! Picked up an aluminum belly pan, a front poly bushing kit, and a poly front swaybar bushing kit from the IPD summer sale!

and I also snagged a front swaybar from a turbo wagon and got it powdercoated to match

                                out with the old

                                and in with the new

got the rear bar installed as well, even though it's small, the car never had one originally so it definitely made a big difference in the corners!

also found a really straight hatch at the junkyard since mine has a huge dent in it

and while I was doing the swaybars I decided to test fit the wheels. I still have to trim the studs down so they will sit in 1/4" farther than where they are now which will be just about perfect!
