  • mrs. motocaddy's mkv jetta build

I've posted the car before, but never made a build thread for it. Since we're currently changing up a few things for SoWo, I figured now's a good time.

We've had the car for about 5 years and it's always been my wife's daily driver. We had modded cars before this (suspension/wheels/tires), but this has been our first build. It's something that we've enjoyed doing together and the experiences and friends we've made, in part because of this car, have been truly life changing.

There's no way it would have been possible without Clay, Jason and the other numerous friends that have supported, sweat and even bled on this car. Also, our great sponsors: Eurojet, DBC Performance and Hubcap Depot.

    History of the car:

    2009

    2010
All polishing work done by her and I.

    2011
Lot more cleaning in the bay, including wire tuck, battery relocation, washer tube, tons of plastic/sound deadning and motor mounts.

Stripped the anodizing and polished these

    2012
Picked up an ugly set of Recaro Speeds for stupid cheap. Turns out they were really in great shape and perfect for the car! They've been recovered in tan leather and suede (along with a matching back seat) and should be going in any day now.

Shaved the notch in the hood

She removed her bumper (all by herself haha!)

And we started shaving and molding this last night

That's it for now. Let us know what you think!

I don't care what anyone says about you, you're a good guy!

Dude has some serious skills and did all the work on this update!

Took the orange lenses off some old markers and cut blanks from an old bumper. Glued and plastic welded the blanks in for the side markers and the same for the bumper trim.

This also came in today. Going to tape it up and sent it off to be chromed.

Here's the progress from last night:

-Sanded down the plastic welds on inserts and side markers
-Laid down a coat of fusor to fill the welds
-Plastic welded Votex lip to bumper.

                  Thanks again to Clay!

Was also able to source a chrome badgeless (apparently only new one in country), so that saves a step.

So jealous. I wish my girlfriend was that interested in cars. Badass build though. I specially liked the smoothies at the top.

I grew up around custom cars, but only did basic wheels/suspension/audio before we were married. Since this is something we enjoy together, it's a lot easier now to take things further and dedicate some real time/money to it.

Almost done with the bumper Probably just another hour or two of sanding and it'll be ready to go to paint on Saturday.

So far, I'm really pleased with how it's coming out. I didn't think the votex lip would mold in so nicely.
