figured id show a few updated pictures of the motor, even though i know most of y'all have seen it haha since the last time i posted any pictures, it had been all reassembled except for the oil pan and turbo which are being modified as we speak.

also bought this from Mr. Peltier as a daily while i build, but as usual the daily has to be awesome too

already have big plans for it too haha

I cannot wait to see where this thread goes. Ethel's gonna be radical with a turbodiesel heart in her.

Wow, I thought I'd never inspire anyone. Thanks man! I try to keep true to myself and my own originality. I'm just glad the two owners of Ethel before me have the same great taste. I've been falling more and more for diesels each day!

been awhile since i've updated this confusing build. the grey 535is has had the coilovers and white centered gotti's stripped off of it, and is gonna have all the good suspension goodies and brakes taken off to put on my turbodiesel in texas. why i say turbodiesel in texas is because i bought another turbodiesel just before h20i and after i bought Ethel the e28. if nobody knows who Ethel is, this is her:

Ethel Blaubottom by stirrettup, on Flickr

i bought her pretty much the way you see her in this picture and had only replaced the tires on these 14" tan meshies with some smaller ones so i could go lower with her, control arm dragging lower

she had been airbagged from previous owner Khalil aka "got splits?" and i loved that he did! it gave her more attitude compared to the rest of the e28's i own. between when i bought her in August and h2oi, all i did is maintenance, replace control arms, poly bushings, and a set of gotti's that were collecting dust in texas

i made a quick trip to michigan and back with her just before h2oi to pick up a buddy of mine and she made the trip flawlessly. before we left my buddies girlfriend had to do a photoshoot with Ethel before we left

i had on the trip and no problems what so ever and averaged 27mpg on the freeway. made it to ocean city for h2oi and got arrested on the first night and the creator of ethel, christof aka runningpanda, broke the oil pan after a HUGE burnout!

the aftermath of busting the oil pan

yup, he managed to rip out the oil pump sump

the manhole that caused it the morning after

none of those events stopped me from having a blast every day i was in ocean city. i'd go back in time to relive those moments again and again in a heartbeat. After h2oi was done i had Ethel towed back to my buddies shop in woodsboro and started planning what i was gonna do to bring Ethel back to life

    Untitled by stirrettup, on Flickr

it's after i got back i knew exactly what i wanted to do... swap the m21 turbodiesel engine out of the 524td i bought from Boston and had shipped to my buddies shop, into Ethel and make her have even more character. this being the donor car

    Untitled by stirrettup, on Flickr

it all started as we were gonna do a completely normal swap with the wiring harness and everything that needed to be swapped over accordingly, to getting rid of the diesel wire harness and ecu (since it's mechanically injected) and rebuilding the engine. we've already pulled the engine

    Untitled by stirrettup, on Flickr

stripped it down, painted the block, and installed the raceware engineering head studs and main bearing studs

the main bearing studs are the first set that raceware engineering has ever made and eagerly awaiting to put them to the test. since we've been building i've been checking to see if any pictures of Ethel have popped up and i've seen a few. then this past week as the Scraped Crusaders announced part 1 of their footage from h2oi i noticed something familiar at the 1 minute mark... me dragging Ethel's control arms! here's the video

H2O International 2012 | Scraped Crusaders | Part 1 from DeathLens | Matt Berenz on Vimeo.

it was awesome that Matt aka Deathlens caught me dragging Ethel and i've been watching the video ever since i've even had people make gif's of it. this one from nickskater09

and a slow mo one of that one haha

and that's all that is going on for now...
