  • first gen volvo s40. did it for shits and giggles.

Im a new member to this forum, but been checking this site out for a while now. Ive had this s40 for a loooong time, but never thought of giving it good fitment. Never thought it needed it, and it wasn't a priority. I owned a lexus sc300 that I gave nice fitment, sold that and kinda miss riding like that.

Well got bored and thought I give my s40 some better wheel fitment. Here is the result. Nothing too crazy. Sorry for the low quality photos, haven't had time to really shoot real photos. Just wanna see what you all think. If I get a good response Ill, probably take the effort to take better photos.

    On 17 inch work vsxx.

    On 18 inch ssr ms1's

I really like it with the 17's! Nice job, I always thought the first gen S40 looked a little soft, but yours looks great.

Very nice! Being a Volvo guy I can appreciate this. The advantage to these cars is the 4x108 pattern which means it's easier to find really nice wheels and also they're able to pull off a bit smaller wheels since its a smaller car.

              Keep up the good work!

                Thanks for the feedback everyone!

JVC the bolt pattern on the s40 is 4x114.3 , for the first gen. It shares the pattern of honda accords , preludes , and a few 240sx's.

Im still not where I wanna be at. I wish my wheels were wider so I can run more stretch, also my coil overs are maxed out in the rear. I also have shitty roll job in the rear from when I rolled it with a bat 5 years ago. Gotta fix some things and make some changes to go lower. Kinda lazy to do all of that. Still not even sure to go with 17's or 18's, still figuring out what works and looks best for this car.

Ok... I think I caught the bug again. Got some 18x8 and 18x9 work eurolines. This will be a totally different look than what im used to for this car.

Well here is what is coming.... Not sure if I want to go agressive or just tone it down and go for a clean look. Im leaning for the clean look, but the way my car is made, for the 9 inch wheel to work I gotta go aggressive.

What you guys think. Right now its with a 20mm spacer I already have. Im planning on doing a 15, but ideally I wanna do a 10mm, but 10mm will barely, or probably not even clear my suspension components.

This has some serious potential. I'll say try & see how everything looks without those rear valances
