I just picked up this Volvo last night. I don't think I left the guy's house until just before midnight. Found it freshly posted on Craigslist around 7pm and couldn't get a ride until 9:30.
So I paced... and paced... and just about had a heart attack because time was CREEPING by. Why? Because the price was $900, and I was terrified I was going to miss the deal. After swearing on my grandmother's grave that I'd get there eventually, he assured me he'd hold it.
The car has only had 2 owners, has 126k miles, is bone stock, and has been garaged its entire life. It only took looking at the car for about 5 mins to realize what an insane deal this was. Someone called and offered him $1,200 while I was driving it and luckily he kept his word and sold it to me for $900. Gotta love the good ol' boys.

Give me some ideas for the build...

Functional drop, no ridiculous camber, Wheels with some baller lip, tint the windows, nice interior upgrades.

Most importantly: Drive it and have fun.

This. Or if you have a decent budget, make your own coilovers:

If you aren't already on turbobricks, make an account. Good info and people on there. The car you picked up looks like a solid base to build on. Try detailing the car, the paint looks really nice, but I bet you could make it look even cleaner!

Thanks for all the feedback, bricksters. I certainly have some prelim work to do on it as the pinstriping (although a great indicator that the body is nice and straight) needs to go because it's missing in a few places, the dealership badge, stock lower door edge trim, etc.

Did a quick photoshop job with all rear badges removed. Think I might do that as well. ...might just leave the Volvo one since it's in good shape. Any ideas for removal without damaging the paint/finish?

Decided to go badgeless on the rear. To be honest, it came out better than I had expected. I admit, it is a long process... carefully prying off the old badges, goo-goning the hell out of the petrified glue, removing the silhouettes of oxidization with heavy duty rubbing compound, then polishing compound, etc, etc. VA antique plates neaten up the rear end nicely.

Continuing on, I worked for days getting the smoke smell out of the car. I had the rear seat out, so I figured I'd try to clean up the rear deck a bit. I thought for a while about what fabric to use. I debated between houndstooth and yellow/brown plaid, but decided in the end that the car should radiate "1985", so I opted for the brown corduroy I think it turned out nice and the pattern complements(if you can call it that) the stock tan/brown interior. I some how managed to salvage the plastic vents and painted them matte black to make 'em pop a little bit.

I also had a little fun with a temporary cover over where the stock AM/FM/tape player was installed. That should get a few laughs from any passengers I might have until I get a new radio installed. Headphones until then...
