  • Audi A1 Build Thread AKA "Project Into The Unknown"

Hey Anyone Interested In Reading My Build Thread...

This Might Take Me A Hour Or 2 To Complete Hope You Find It Interesting...

This Is My Audi A1 1.4TFSi Sport 122hp Collected From Swindon (nr Bristol, England) January 24th 2011 Having Just Sold My Old Peugeot 106 GTi Which I Had Fast Car Featured And Spent Way To Much Money On... Wish I Discovered This Culture Sooner...

on the mentality i wasnt going to modify this car i took the touble of uprating the wheels to 17's and uprating the sound system in the car also to a boose system which i still enjoy now!

Getting the car home after no more than two days i got to work with new german plates and de badging the rear bootlid which in my opinion made the back of the car look 100% better dont know what you think?

    content for now i then.....

next around 2 - 3 weeks later in the quest for better looks and because i could fit my head in the arches i had kw trial some 30mm lowering springs on the car the first in the UK after backwards and forwards and a couple of different spring types it seemed that the springs off the new ibiza were the best match... (german never was my strong subject)

here is the fitting pictures and results...

    and the results....

i was satisfied.. for now... still wanting to be more unique and as the cars became more popular in the uk i craved to be different.. taking the idea from the a3/s3 models available i had the grill and badge on the front glossed which gave a whole new look to the front end of the car...

then it was time for under the bonnet... now being a new car it is sooo hard to find anyone to touch under the bonnet or anyone that does parts yet forge still doesnt and nore do other big names and players in the market.. so here is my efforts a pipercross filter and re - map taking me to 156hp in total...

show season 2011 approaching i knew i couldnt stop here....

      next it was obvious... wheels...

      replaced the optional extra Bi-Arm Audi 5 Spoke 17's With 18inch 8J BBS CH's 5x100
et35 Wrapped With Falkens With A Strech In Preperation For Coilovers After Being So Impressed With The KW Springs... unfortunatley the wheels were a right pain in the ass first time going on not clearing the calipers so ment the early need of spacers 5mm all round which i am still to improve on really want 20mm on back now 10mm on front but its something to do....

here is the pics up to date wheels fitting and after...

so new wheels stretched tyres now all i was missing was all time lows..

back on the phone to KW i had them send the latest V3 coilovers for my car over from germany first set ordered in the uk once again.. they did the same as before sent a few different versions this time the ones for the skoda fabia vrs seemed the best option and gave the best results it really has been trial and error! at the same time i added ebach anti roll bars which had been developed for the car! dont think KW new what to do say when i rang up to say the springs were coming off already after just 2 months! they were still clean! haha!

really didnt think it would turn when we dropped it first but we were in luck thank god....

shortly after this was completed the car was vandelised overnight on a friends driveway...

luckily for me the people who did it only used primer and the car was really dirty so the paint didnt take very well... i acted fast got it staright to my friends body shop were by lunch time and for the cost of a crate of beer the car was fixed and looking cleaner than ever!!

it pains me to look at these photos! but you would never know now

makes me soo angry people who dont apprieciate what we do to our cars but when in need the scene will help us! dubbers stick together ive found that!!

this car may look to some like a new car with a drop and wheels... but that is always what i was going for subtle little CLEAN and FRESH touches nothing makes me more happy than for people to enjoy the car because i do everyday! i have a few more plans i want to go a little lower on the back and want 20mm spacers rear to go with that along with 10mm on the front with more strecth all all round...

i also hope to get more power by adding selected forge products when they get there act together and start making products for it! maybe even a trip to miltek exhausts who knows... however next on the adjenda is seats... want recaros so watch this space!

Finally it will be in Audi Driver Magazine On March The 7th 2012 Cant Wait Photo Shoot Is Done And Here Is A Little Teaser Picture For You All The Pictures Were Done In And Around A Body Shop And The Garage All The Work Was Carried Out...

needs more low and some sort of rear wing - That ass is odd looking.

Sucks to have seen the whole spray paint crap, luckily you were able to take care of it quick! That's when waxing the car comes in handy - Shit wont stick! haha
