Lydden was pretty awesome, ableit fucked up because the car limit was too high and they introduced 15 min sessions. oh well hopefully next one is better.
Changed the rocker cover gasket the night before because I used a old on for the head rebuild and it was leaking a bit... also checked the torques of the head bolts.
The car was fuckin sick, feels like a different car. Spins up much easier and the steering took a while to get used to, but here's some pics and vids !
all ready the day before !
arrival
doing some grip racing
Crashed into a tyre barrier cos I kept pushing it too hard with toyo t1r's on the rear, the rear would not come out at all and I tried so hard to make it so. so I crashed lol. fixed in 20mins though, sorry no before pic. bent wing and slam panel :smash:
and I lost my o/s bumper trim waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
didn't think they'd be un-skiddable grippy. -3 camber, toe in and 40psi is the reason I guess.
.
and some videos, shit driving but my excuse is the car is totally different and I was scared of the black boulders

got the hubs on today. lots of fun! arms and new steering wheel came today.
new shiny bits everywhereeeeeeeeee.
the lock was TOO much so I took out the Gibson/chizfab rack spacers and it was like.. perfect. no rubbing issues.. after I used the hammer that is. still. about 8mm clearance in the arch on lock.
lock with rack spacers too
without, not noticeabley less cos I didn't have the wheel on the last pic
and my new wheel
so I came accross a lil problem when tracking. the toe out was too much and the thread wouldn't wind into the tie rods any more ! so tomorrow I will be c utting the thread down by how much I need it to go in. the wheels are almost straight...
all should go well. corner weighting and camber + castor setup tomorrow ready for lydden hill.

My new hubs are nearly finished. Should do some awesome skids. Just need to do the other ones, press the bearings and paint !
also got some clear rear lights. I dig em! the tinted oem ones looked kinda tacky after a while... I wanted some red !
lame.
GAME.
Oh yeah here's a vid just to prove all is good so far with the engine.
the smoke is cos the exhaust is very cold.

Bit of epic fail because I forgot to film it....
Turnt it over about 20 times to get some oil pressure... then plugged coil packs in..
started up!! Straight home from work on a Sunday and 5 hours work got the bitch running! Was expecting piston to valve contact noise but everythings good except noisy bucket/tappets, the air will get out of them eventually hopefully.
The response seems way better than before revs up and drops revs much faster.
When I was doing the vanos timing it seemed the vanos timing was off previously. Looking at the markings someone has made with tip ex or somethin, it was off.
Woop!
Now I just need to change the oil cos it's got tons of coolant in it... too cold to do it tonight !
But so glad it works fine!
Just gotta drive it around tomorrow to run it in and check it over, brings on the drifts

Head bolted and torqued up! bitchin!
fuck the people that say get a new engine/block. This block over heated at least 4 times in it's life :smash:
I did heli coil 2 threads though, they felt just as good when torquing up so here's hoping it will last !
I cleaned out all the other threads with a slitted old head bolt.
Sorry no pics , just imagine swearing and raging for 2 mins trying to line up a 25kg+ 6 pot head and then realising the valves are touching the piston only to take the head off again cos it's not a TDC  (and holding the chain outta the way)
but man,,, I was scared when tightening the bolts haha.
