you have a great start on this e34. especially with having an m50 vs m20. i dont know if you have looked up tutorials on how to do coilovers on an e34 but its not quite as easy as just taking a couple bolts out and puting them back in lol. get creative!

I know what you mean.. I have been researching and I think I want to try and build some coil-overs instead of buying them.. I was looking at JCBE34's build thread and I saw how he built his coil-overs. I just need all of the detail breakdown of the needed parts that tolerances.

Ok.. Doing my research on how i'm going to do my custom coil-over setup.. So far it looks like I am going to do the following....

                            1. Go to the pick a part and grab the front strut housings off one of the wrecked E34's ( will need to strip them down in the pick-a-part yard so I can get them dirt cheap..)

                            2. get them home and cut off the lower spring perch. either hack them off, cut off wheel, or plasma cutter.

                            3. measure the radius of the strut housing diameter and length of the housing. Document the measurements.

                            4. Measure the radius and length of the KYB 366007 - KYB GR-2 strut. I am thinking about cutting the strut tube down, and if I do, I will need a shorter strut with the same radius and tolerances. I might just walk into Auto-zone and do the eyeball test on what they have in stock.

                            5. have some steel rings cut for the new bottom perch. Hit up a welding spot with everything I need done and get a quote for all of the work... Don't know how to weld yet..

                            6. looking on JEGS.com for the right springs to get... preliminary measurements look like I will need 7" 350Lbs springs. (could be wrong) need to get the I.D. and the O.D.... Any help would be greatly appreciated..

                            8. looking on A-1 Racing to get the Hyper-Coils...

                            9. get the thrust bearings....

                            10. get the Coil sleeve kit, or just mount the springs stagnant on the strut housings not sure yet...
                            ------------------------------------------------------------------

nice work. just get a cheap coilover conversion kit from ebay which comes with the top plate and threaded adjuster. you can buy better springs from swift after. you can either reuse your spring mounts on top of the coil spring plate, or get camber plates.
