Hey Guys, I'm aware that there are a few of these cars here already on the forum so I'll try and keep this brief.
I picked up this 1976 BMW 2002 about a year ago, in the original color of Pastelblau (Pastel Blue) which is somewhat rare. The car was pretty clean, with a straight body, but a few patches of minimal surface rust. The traditional spots for rust on 2002's were clean and checked out. (Rear shock towers, passenger floorboard etc.) The car was a great driver, but had some mechanical needs for sure. Heres a small list of what was done.
Rear Euro bumper conversion
Replaced Tailight Lens
New Silicone Sparkplug Wires
New Bosch Blue Coil
Flushed and cleaned gas tank
New IE silicone hose set
New ignition switch
New gas cap
New steering wheel (320i sport wheel)
Radiator refinished and painted/flushed
Powdercoated valve cover
New License plate light lens cover
Recaros
New Carpet kit
New Trunk Emblem
New battery cables
New spark plugs
New eshaust mani. Gaskets and studs
I also may be forgetting some things. Oh well.
Obligatory engine bay shot:

And a few interior:

A nice set of Recaros are getting harder and harder to find now, I've seen some go for as much as $600!
After driving it for a while and generally tooling around, I realized that I wasn't really too happy with the condition of the paint work, and wanted to fix some rust issues. I want to keep this car for a while, so it's necessary that all rust is adressed, even if its just surface and not too bad. I'm planning on respraying the car in an original BMW color, Inka orange. But first its going to be just primed in flat black for a while, while funds are gathered.
In addition, all chrome trim has been removed, as it's going to be shaved. All US side markers and rear markers are going to be filled and shaved, and front bumper mount holes will be filled/shaved. I am also debating with the idea of shaving door handles.
Apologies for the few crappy cell pics.
Getting a new bumper:

Much better:

And then work on stripping the paint began. This shit does not come off easily. The BMW primer is incredibly thick, and paint stripper can only do so much. Luckily, I have not discovered any bondo/shoddy body work. Yet.

This leaves me to where the car currently is now, in the process of being stripped. Hopefully I'm getting a MIG welding setup soon so I can start patching holes and shaving.
Plans also include cutting some coils, and rolling low on stock springs for a while, before getting some nicer IE stage twos.
I'll try and keep this thread going and up to date.
