  • 1962 Beetle OEM+ Restoration

My dad, brother and myself have finally started on restoring my dads 1962 Beetle.
The Beetle has been in my uncles back yard/desert for 10 years and about 6 in our garage.
My family has had its good time with beetles back in the day so my dad has really been wanting to get this car setup. Our game plan is full restoration, all new suspension, bolts etc. We plan on keeping it pretty much stock other than the few little modifications my brother and I want to do. We are swapping in a 1900 with dual weber 40s as well.

Heres her final resting spot for the overhaul. This will be a slow build
as my brother and I have our own projects with the E30 and E36. Were
    getting on it though!

Suspension isnt going to anything special. Just some KYBs.

Haha that would be nice but planning on sticking to OEM as possible.

It will be. This is my dads car and he wants it OG as possible. Which I dont really mind on this project as they can catch a fair price originally restored.

Yeah luckily it seems sitting in a desert has kept it pretty dry. Other than a front clip no panels will need to be fixed. Floor pans are perfect!

I was able to get a bit of work done today after work. I got most of the front end apart and ready for some fab. Sadly we are going to have to replace the front clip do to an accident before it sat for years. Its too crunched up and rusted to save. We have a replacement on the way.

Lots of sand, dirt, mud, grease to get to the suspension bits.

Some good news though! My dad was able to clean the dash up pretty nicely. Still needs a nice buff an polish but its looking good. We are planning on keeping this original, so no paint will touch this. ;D

Pretty busy work week so doubt too much time will be spent on the beetle this week. Maybe a few hours either Saturday or Sunday.
