So I've been out working on the engine in the blazing sun for the past 4 days and it seems like no progress...

My good buddy at

welded up some plates in my engine bay I had previously cut out. His welds are amazing, as are his products. If anyone has a mk1, definitely check out his site. Half pans, raised strut towers, full multilink suspension, all handbuilt by him.

And then I spent the past two days filling and painting and sanding and fllling and painting and sanding and filling and sanding a painting and sanding and sanding and sanding and sanding and today I'm going to apply seem sealer to clean up the lines.

Here's where I'm at.




Also I figured out my perfectly good clutch out of my m20 won't fit the m30 tranny. Well, the clutch fits but the pressure plate does not. The flywheel allignment tabs are like 3mm too small. Awesome.



So now I need to get rid of that..

It's even better today after I applied seem sealer. I was kinda embarrassed to post those pictures because of the shitty gaps, but now they're all sealed up and painted and it looks real swell. Gotta grab me some goldass fleckass glossyass paint and get it done.


And make a harness, but I'm kinda looking forward to that, for some reason. Shrink wrap makes me as happy as shrinky dinks.

Yes the color is Burgundrotmetallic, I really like it as well. It's grown on me.

Good luck with the wheels, btw mine are just raw aluminum as well, no paint. If you mean the 14" wheels I have now.



I finally have the bay ready for paint. Everything takes so much longer then I imagine, but that's okay.

Also I spent 108$ on paint. The first color I choose was 280$, but I just got unlucky with what color I picked haha.

The Fit Garage is being nice enough to not only let my POS sit in their parking lot, but they're letting me use their garage to paint the bay. Oh and they are painting my bay too so that's awesome. You guys should really give them some likes on their FB page if you get a chance. It would make my tummy warm.
