I hope this comes together nicely, it has a lot of potential. The 3.46 diff would make that car rip, but freeway driving might suck without the 6 spd trans.

It will come together nicely, and everything should be finished by MFest. Worst case scenario the engine bay, jams, inside of the hood and the inside of the trunk will all be painted in the next couple weeks. The exterior may have to wait till Bimmerfest, as there is quite a bit of bodywork to be done, and I don't want to rush the paint. Worst case it will be primer black for Mfest, on the exterior, but the s54 will be in and running, my interior will be done, and the Alpinas will be mounted and fitment will be addressed.
As far as the final drive ratio, it will be perfect for me. The car is my weekend only car, so I don't care as much about gas mileage. With the 3.46, the e36 m3 ZF trans, 245/40/17 rear tires and an 8300 rev limit (), the car will achieve the following speeds at red line:
Factory e46 M3 does the exact same speeds in 1st through 5th with an 8300 rev limit, 18" OEM wheels and 255/40/18 rear tires!
I had the first s52 swapped e30 in SoCal, and I had the ZF + 3.46 gear ratio for almost 2 years in my car. I loved it for spirited driving and canyon runs, but for long trips it was a bit annoying on the freeway. However, it was my DD and my fun car, so that made things different.
Based on the above gearing, I will have a very fun an torquey power band, with 300+whp/250+wtq and nice long gears! Car should rape pretty nicely and it will sound almost identical to this s54 e36 our shop built:
wow, sick build. if i send you some rudeboi stance stickers, would you consider rocking one? your cars are all legit.
like this, die cut, white:
Thanks!
For the sticker, probably not on my M3; trying to put only a few shop stickers on it to keep it clean and classy. I'll definitely put one on my e34 touring, after I throw the coil-overs, and 18" staggered, low offset AC Schnitzer Type IIs on in a couple weeks!
The paint prep and paint has been a slow process due to time constraints. Anyway, the interior is completely painted, as well as the inside of the trunk, here are a few pics of the engine bay prep and paint:
