  • Intro & Build Thread in onneee? haha

Hey guys... My name is Josh. I'm from the middle of nowhere in North Carolina.

I'm currently working at a car audio/custom shop. While it is my dream job were in a kinda slow area so my profress wont be super fast but i'm tryin' to do things right.

Here are some of the things i've done recently... Not too impressive but... I try haha.

My first truck... 94 GMC Sonoma. Bone stock. 800 bucks, I was 15 years old bought it myself with my own money.

Got bored and drug out the grinder...

    And this was the result...

Not a great idea... But you gotta start somewhere right?

A little while later I got the front down... Who needs coils?

Did I mention I used to rattle bomb EVERYTHING? haha

Finally got some semi decent wheels on... Could turn lock to lock with minimal rubbing with a 205/70/15 not too bad...

Picture of me and my now roommates first trucks...

There were a few trucks and stuff between but nothing good... Then I got this...

It was bone stock we got it... Blocks spindles and cut coils got it on down...

Then... I got my first honda... She didn't look too bad but later I learned she was EAT up with cancer... (stepped on the back bumper and half the back of the car came off... haha)

It went thru like 4 different wheel set ups... All were either 17s or steelies...

    and then I saw this...

The stance bug finally took some of the glamour away from the minitruckin' life I was stuck on.

I traded the honda for this...

The plan was to stance it... 15x10f/15x10r but while I was driving it around it jumped time... and I traded it for a squarebody s10... I don't have any pics of it right now but to put it simply I drug thru the gas tank on 20s... haha

I traded the s10 for a jeep... Traded the jeep back for the toyota, traded the toyota for a 95 Integra, traded the integra for my new project...

    HOWEVER
Amongst all this I found another deal... 650 bucks for a 2000 chevy s10 ex cab...(yay haha) only problem was the transmission was slipping in overdrive.
No completly stock pics buttt.... After I lowered the back...

    After I did the front...

Wheels (specs: 20x9.5 with 225/35 nexen tires)

    What killed it...

Slipping transmisson + a burn out contest... Bad idea... lol

Oh well... traded it for this...

89 civic LX, swapped to obd1 FI with a d16a1 (88-91 crx si motor)

Moar Low... Nothing crazy... but the bottom of the ebay coilovers it hard on it. Actually didn't ride horrible with KYBs on it.

If you look closely in the back ground you'll see my project... I traded my integra for. haha
Its am 83 Chevy crew cab long bed with a 292 inline 6 and a 4 speed with a granny gear (more on that later...)

On a bad/good note I was driving the Civic home the other night and the timing belt broke (looks like I'd learn to change that shit...) Luckily a buddy of mine decided to get trade me for his 2000 Honda Civic EX (It threw a rod)

I found a complete d15b7 for 80 bucks, Dude threw in an extra vtec head and a wiring harness. I'm putting the D16y8 head off the ex on the b7 block i bought for some extra compression and ease of installation. Pics of car coming soon

Plans for 2000 ex, Coilovers (prolly Ksports) at least 8 inch wide pokeness, Change my oilpan with my oil lows, super clean, loud ass sound system (I get free stuff... haha) and eventually an H22/23 swap.

Sorry for such long first posts but I figured you guys would like to see what i've come from, as I enjoy learning about peoples previous projects.

I'm glad to be a memeber of such and awesome site! haha

    Have a good day,
    Josh

Transmission cost 1100 bucks to fix...

I have about 300 in the EX so far, It should be on the road in a couple weeks...

Hondas are easier to work on... haha

The truck was also a 4cyl and slow as balls... I don't like auto transmissions. Hondas are easy to swap and it was already a 5 speed.

Sorry about that... I tried my best to make sure they were all in the same direction but they just ended up sideways any damn way so I just didn't mess with it.

The new pics of the new car will be with a decent camera and be the right direction.

Should have just swapped out the tranny in the White s-dime and kept that.

Well the 4 door Chevy is gonna be turned into a dually... 8 to 10 lug adapters and milled down 22.5 inch semi wheels so I can run (and hopefully stretch) 22 inch low pros... Air ride is in its future...

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention I also drug thru the gas tank on the 2000 s10... The low life if expensive...

                      Edit @ Way2fastx3 I dislike auto transmission and I REALLLLYYY **** 2.2 in the s10...

If It was a 4.3 I woulda kept it. Since its not Honda wins this battle imo

Yeah the sedans seem to be gettin pretty popular around these parts... and I haven't seen any 96-00 coupe civics done the way I want mine...

I'm probably gonna do some fender pulling... like way out... lol
Teal paint, I really want bbs rs wheels but its robably gonna have some knock off stuff on it for a while.
Just gonna be as clean and low as I can possibly get it.

I'm gonna uplode some more pics of the truck tomorrow... Dropjawmag.com is down thats where all the pictures are.

I tried up upload the video of the burnout but i'm having issues. It suprised me how much smoke it actually made lol

I'm sittin' waitin for a ride really wishing I had the stuff to put my damn front suspension back together on my new civic... Thats all that holding me back for now. I have to get the spindles and struts back on so I can move it to my house.

Gonna go the junk yard this weekend to get struts and some bolts, as soon as I get it to the house i'm going to drop the temporary motor in and start saving up for suspension. Parents offered to buy me wheelse when they're income tax comes in. Only catch is they cant be 2500 BBS wheels... Which is what I want of course... So i'm getting some xxrs off ebay while I save up for and hunt down some BBS RS's that need refurbing.
I know reps are a no no on this site but I'm tired of rolling steelies... I think you guys can respect a budget daily build... I know this site is supposed to be about best of the best baller stuff, but I gotta start small and work my way up...

My thought is al least I'm not gonna strap an eating table on the back, a snow plow on the front a fart can on it and call it custom... I originate from a minitrucking background so clean and slow with subtle custom touches is the way I like it.

Cliffnotes... I REALLY WISH MY DAMN CAR WAS AT MY HOUSE!
