Aww come on. I'm not slamming it. Just getting rid of the wheel gap and reducing chances of roll over

      SO

First of all, I finished the thermostat job on Saturday, it was sticking shut every morning. Ended up doing timing belt, thermostat, water pump, radiator, hoses, tensioners, etc. The old timing belt had an inch or more of play, and now it runs twice as smooth, which I never thought would be possible. The difference is huge above 3k RPM.

So I'm finally set on the mechanicals of this thing. I can drive it anywhere without worrying about some BS happening. New starter, alternator, battery, belts, cooling, etc. is a good feeling. Bashing around in a tough daily is FTW here in minneapolis

I also dealt with some electrical issues on my own (which I normally don't do), most of which involved ghetto solder repair on an old bulb socket, and epoxy stuffing to cement its fate. Not my normal style, but I love being able to work on a car like this and half-ass things without feeling bad. As long as it works and will continue to work, I feel great about 'fixing' it for free. Now I have to figure out my other god damn license plate light bulb, as the cops love to pull us over for those here.

I also pounded out the dent on my tail gate for practice. I kinda want to try PDR now, it came out really nice. I wish it didn't have 10 rusty golf balls growing inside of it

And I also replaced these lame ass grills in the cowl vents. Something one of the POs did that I couldn't live with for very long at all..

in this pic - old grills, new wipers, new windshield

and my functioning tail lights once again with asshole license plate light

More pics tomorrow... interior and madd ICE yo

Nice, I've got a diesel 5-door Terrano (JDM Pathfinder) that I'm about to sell. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I drive too fast to worry about cholesterol.

Well here's a little update guys. I finally got a memory card reader so I can take pics with my real camera again. Now I just need to find my tripod

finally a decent one of the wheels, not cleaned up or anything

this would have been a good picture if i had a tripod

this would have also been decent

can't wait to give the interior a thorough clean at the end of winter

and the only pic that actually turned out

Since my last update I've spent another 1.5x the purchase price of the car on itself

Last week I had the following done..

            - Timing Belt + Tensioner
            - Other belts + Tensioners
            - Radiator + Hoses
            - Thermostat
            - Water Pump
            - Alternator tensioner adjustment bracket

and probably a couple other things

The TB had about 2" of up/down movement and was definitely getting scary. I could 'feel' the play in the engine while accelerating, the car ran really smooth before but now I'm not sure it could possibly be any smoother. I've never done maintenance at this level before and it's really a great feeling to know that it will go another 100k miles without a timing belt explosion

So now I'm going to recover for another couple weeks and get going on learning how to weld. Might as well learn on some arrow straight pathy rockers before I try anything else. Need to do that right away, along with exhaust and whatever drop I can work out for free.

and finally 2 pics with a coworker's mega clean HB

^ Too much maintenance! Instead of lowering it and doing the balljoints and whatnot, I did the timing belt and necessary shit instead.

My next update will include replacement body panels and cheap rust repair, followed by a full nice detail. After that, I lower.

However this is my 'winter beater' and I have 3 german vehicles that are a lot more needy

ALSO I have to add that it's been a really rough winter here. Somehow the temperature difference between last year and this year is about 50 degrees! Last st. patty's day we were all grilling outside in shorts, this year it was 20 and freezing.

I'm trying to keep her as clean and 'not disintegrated' as I possibly can. Proof:

If I could choose any car in this pic, I'd probably take my pathy

OHH and I also bought this ACS wheel to put in my e30 eventually, but I figure I'll put it in the pathfinder while I can. I "installed" an ACS dead pedal last year so it will match that perfectly! Pathy was made in 1988, this wheel was made in 1990 - I think they'll like each other

(also I bought these Viper CCWs hoping they would fit the Pathy. Obviously they did not.)
