  • 86' Volvo 244dl "marta"

So i picked up this little 4 door 240 in charlottesville about a good hours drive from where i live. I have to say the motor runs pretty well for being a little over 200k. I do have a lot of plans for the car, but I will have some difficult decisions on what to do with the motor.

These are my short term plans some of which are already done:

    timing belt
    oil and trans fluid
    bushings all around
    ball joints
    tie rod ends
black front lip(instead of the body color cause its chipped all along it)

IPD springs in a few weeks(for now i will cut the front springs just to get a little lower)

I would totally love to get some widened steelies for this girl but i keep thinking about some old skool ferrari rims. I'm definitely going for some poke*

Have you ever heard of rake? I don't think so.

yea I think the steering rack looked fine for right now. if it aint broke(yet) dont fix it.

I took off the u bolts around this pipe and it came off so i took the exhaust off from the caat back so i could go ahead and fab up an exhaust to one muffler instead of 2.

didnt pull it in cause i wanted the space on the floor to do other stuuuuff

Btw thank you for all the positive feedback about the project. I know I need wheels Garrett... Get your honda fixed

Curious to see where this goes. I'd recommend adapting to wheels. 5x108 doesn't give you a lot of affordable wheel options.

oh so true curt, honestly just to be a pain in the ass i was thinking i might just try looking for some old ferrari rims, i think 80s models sported the 5x108 pattern

anywho I was taking the suspension off just to see what was what and how easy it would be and I broke brake line but i just ran up to the store and bought and new one and bent to fit. it was a time trying to get that reaaaly tight bend when it first comes out cause if its to much it will hit the strut. i managed to say the least

also when i was taking the strut out i broke off some studs so i had to weld some on.

soooooo ive had this magnaflow for a whiiiiiile and ya know what im gonna put it on this little girl. this muffler is great for this car i feel like just because you dont see it hahaha

                      I love suggestions btw!!!!!!!

                        Not a bad start.

There's quite a few Volvo guys aside late, I almost feel like I'm going along with the latest trend with my 242.

yea man honestly ive been into volvos for a while but this just kinda fell in my lap. I wrecked my 1999 s70 glt and sooooo yea i ended up buying this. buut i love this car and its a great little car to start off from scratch with. solid rear axle keeps it simple and im already into volvos.

also I was thinking I might just get a new set of steelies and have a local shop widen them for me. i know some shops do it but i just havent had the time to go price it out. I want to spend as little money as possible making this car what im envisioning. but im very confident it will look good throughout the project.

btw in those earlie pics i should have just cut the springs since i already had the stuff off lol

Im in the process of sanding down the front lip and painting it black so for shits and gigs here are some pics at garretts house with the lip off. reminds me of an alligator

clear coat is peeling in some areas but Im not worried about paint I like to think it gives it some character, well a wee bit more than it already has
